Riley Green Praises Everett Bounds for Keeping Traditional Country Alive After His Clint Black Cover on The Voice — But His Future Remains Uncertain

Everett Bounds brought a dose of old-school country music to The Voice Season 30 with a spirited performance of Clint Black’s Killin’ Time.
The 23-year-old California native impressed the coaches with his rugged vocals and unmistakable traditional country style during the competition’s first-ever Cut Week.
Riley Green praised his authenticity, while Adam Levine offered an amusing observation about the distinctive character of his voice.
However, despite the positive feedback, Bounds faced a difficult outcome as the competition narrowed its field ahead of the Live Shows.
Everett Bounds Brings ’90s Country Back to The Voice

Dressed in a cowboy hat, Western shirt, jeans and a prominent belt buckle, Bounds looked every bit the traditional country performer as he stepped onto the stage.
His rendition of Clint Black’s Killin’ Time highlighted the strong 1990s country influences that have shaped his musical identity.
With his rough-edged vocals and confident delivery, Bounds earned applause from the audience.
Even host Carson Daly acknowledged the unmistakable country sound of the performance.
Adam Levine was equally entertained, joking that Bounds’ voice always makes him imagine a fight about to break out.
The Maroon 5 frontman explained that the singer’s ability to create such a vivid impression through his voice demonstrated his personality and authenticity.
He also praised Bounds as a strong entertainer.
Riley Green Celebrates His Traditional Country Roots
Green was particularly impressed by his contestant’s commitment to the traditional country sound.
The coach noted that classic country music has been experiencing renewed interest and praised Bounds for contributing to that movement.
“There’s something that’s so cool to me about how traditional country’s making a comeback, and you’re right there in it, man,” Green told him.
He emphasized that Bounds’ musical identity felt genuine rather than manufactured, something he believed audiences would recognize.
Despite the encouragement, Green still had to make a difficult decision about which contestants would continue.

Season 30 introduced Cut Week as a new elimination round, with each coach selecting two contestants to advance automatically to the Live Shows.
Five remaining singers then performed for one final available position.
Green initially chose Cade Mower and sister duo Ferryn & Brinkley, leaving Bounds competing for the third spot.
Ultimately, Green selected Joe Henley following his performance of Keith Whitley’s Don’t Close Your Eyes.
That decision left Bounds among the eliminated contestants hoping for a second chance.
Other singers advancing included Mia Knight, BigCountry and Lillie Kolich from Team Queen; Lexi Stephens, Connor Closs and Dakota Cohen from Team Adam; and Koumba Diallo, Anna McElroy and Brianna Cameron from Team Kelly.
Everett Bounds Still Has One Last Chance
Although Bounds did not secure a place through Green’s selections, his journey may not be over.
Viewers were given the opportunity to vote one of the 16 eliminated contestants back into the competition, completing the Live Top 13.
The result will be announced when The Voice returns Monday, November 9, at 9/8c on NBC and Peacock.
For Bounds, the opportunity carries considerable personal significance.
The singer explained that he has worked in numerous trades while pursuing his musical ambitions and believes performing country music is what he was meant to do.
“To make it to the top 13 would be electric,” he said, acknowledging the risks he has taken to chase his dream.
Whether or not Everett Bounds returns to the competition, his Clint Black performance reinforced the traditional country identity that earned Riley Green’s admiration.
