Royal Family Presents United Front at Balmoral Days After Harry and Meghan’s UK Return News
The Royal Family appeared united in Scotland on Sunday, gathering for church just days after news emerged that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are preparing to return to Britain.
Princess Catherine was pictured smiling as the Wales family travelled to Crathie Kirk in Aberdeen. Prince William drove the car, with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis joining their parents for the service.
King Charles and Queen Camilla travelled separately, while other senior members of the family were also seen making their way to church during the traditional summer gathering in the Scottish Highlands.
William and Catherine Join the Family at Crathie Kirk
Princess Anne arrived with her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence, who was driving. Prince Edward, Duchess Sophie and Lady Louise Windsor were also pictured travelling together.
The appearance comes after members of the extended Royal Family arrived in Scotland earlier this week for their annual summer stay at Balmoral.
The timing has inevitably attracted additional attention because the gathering coincides with reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will return to Britain at the end of the month.
Some reports suggested senior royals could use their time in Scotland to hold a “summit” about Harry and Meghan’s return.
However, the Balmoral gathering is understood to be part of a longstanding royal tradition rather than an event specifically arranged in response to the Sussexes’ plans.
Harry and Meghan Preparing for Return After Six Years
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly preparing to come back to Britain six years after stepping down as senior working members of the Royal Family.
Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have already been enrolled in British schools, according to reports.
Harry and Meghan are expected to establish their family in a private, non-royal residence outside London rather than return to a royal property.
News of the planned move emerged publicly late on Wednesday evening, although King Charles is understood to have been informed several days earlier, on Sunday.
Attention Turns to Prince William
The presence of Prince William alongside his father in Scotland will inevitably draw attention as speculation continues about how the Royal Family will respond to Harry’s return.
Neither William nor Catherine has publicly commented on the Sussexes’ reported plans.
