Crime drama fans ‘gagged’ in first 5 minutes of ‘enchanting’ show’s comeback

Crime drama fans are “obsessed” by the comeback of an “edge of your seat” series. Adapted from a Swedish novel by writing partnership Erik Axl Sund, this “enchanting” crime drama charts the story of a detective and a psychotherapist who team up to hunt down a vicious serial killer.
However, it isn’t long before their probe exposes a tangled history of child abuse and trauma.The Crow Girl initially premiered last year on Paramount Plus and now DCI Jeanette Kilburn (played by Eve Myles) and Dr Sophia Craven (Katherine Kelly) have returned for season two. The complete eight-part drama landed on Monday, July 20, and viewers have wasted no time in heaping praise upon it.

“I am GAGGED at the end of s2 ep3. Need to go and stare at a wall for an hour now”, one person posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Another posted: “The first episode… oh my GOD. Show of the year for real.”

Referencing the opening sex scene between Jeanette and Sophia, another added: “More shows should open their second seasons like that.”
For viewers who missed The Crow Girl during its original 2025 release, season one is now being shown on Channel 5 with the opening episode broadcasting tonight, Monday, July 20.

The opening three episodes are screening back-to-back this week with the remaining instalments continuing from next Monday through to Wednesday. The Crow Girl is also available to watch via Channel 5’s streaming service 5.
Continuing from the opening series, DCI Jeanette Kilburn is pursuing someone responsible for murdering young male asylum seekers.
She not only discovers a corpse in a freezer but also uncovers a mummified body concealed within a church wall, exposing a sinister link between the two cases.
Meanwhile, Sophia continues to navigate her multiple identities, completely oblivious to the fact that she is secretly serial killer Victoria Burkeman that everyone’s searching for.
But how much longer before the reality of Sophia’s past is ultimately revealed?
