Riley Green Had Two Savage Words for Adam Levine After He Failed to Turn for One of The Voice’s Most Powerful Blind Auditions

Adam Levine may have regretted keeping his chair facing the stage during one standout The Voice audition — and Riley Green made absolutely sure he wouldn’t forget it.

Saade, a 24-year-old singer born in Iran and now living in San Francisco, stepped onto the Blind Auditions stage carrying a dream she’d held onto for years.

“I’ve been dreaming about this day for as long as I can remember,” she said before performing. “I’m so happy to be here, making my impossible dream a reality.”

Moments later, three coaches were staring back at her.

Riley Green, Kelly Clarkson and Queen Latifah all turned their chairs during Saade’s powerful performance of RAYE’s “Oscar Winning Tears.”

Only Adam Levine stayed put.

That gave Green all the ammunition he needed.

Adam Levine Was the Only Coach Who Didn’t Turn

Saade’s performance immediately impressed the panel.

Despite being the only coach who hadn’t turned, Levine was actually the first to speak afterward, praising what he’d just heard.

Saade quickly revealed that his approval meant a lot to her.

“I really, really wanted you,” she admitted.

Levine responded by pretending to stab himself in the heart.

“Still love you though,” Saade added.

It was already an uncomfortable position for Levine.

Green decided to make it worse.

Watching the exchange, Green couldn’t resist taking a shot at his fellow coach.

He called Levine a “dumb idiot” for failing to turn.

But Green’s joking jab was followed by enormous praise for Saade.

“The most powerful vocal performance I’ve heard since I’ve been here was you just now,” he told her. “Unreal.”

Coming from a coach who had already listened to numerous hopefuls during the Blind Auditions, it was a huge compliment.

Green was clearly interested in convincing Saade to join his team.

He just wasn’t entirely sure she knew who he was.

“By the way, I’m Riley Green, in case you’ve never heard of me before,” he joked.

Saade quickly put that concern to rest.

“I know you and I’m honored,” she replied.

Riley Wasn’t Finished Teasing Adam

Queen Latifah and Kelly Clarkson also praised Saade as the three coaches began making their cases.

The moment appeared almost overwhelming for the singer.

“I don’t even know if I’m awake,” she admitted.

Levine reassured her that she definitely was.

Green immediately saw another opening.

“Adam was sleeping while you were singing,” he fired back.

Clarkson happily joined the pile-on.

“Remember that time Adam let you down?” she teased.

For Levine, there wasn’t much of a defense.

He had been the only coach with an opportunity to turn for Saade who chose not to.

And now all three coaches who had turned wanted her.

Kelly Clarkson Had a Connection Green Couldn’t Beat

Green had delivered huge praise.

Queen Latifah had made her case.

But Clarkson ultimately had something neither of them could match.

Saade revealed that Kelly’s music had been part of her life long before she ever imagined standing on The Voice stage.

“I was raised with Kelly Clarkson in Iran,” she explained.

That connection made her final choice clear.

Saade joined Team Kelly.

Clarkson was thrilled.

“She’s a big addition to Team Kelly,” she said.

One Chair Stayed Still — and Everybody Noticed

For Saade, the audition represented the realization of something she’d dreamed about for years.

She arrived hoping simply to earn a chair turn.

She walked away with three coaches fighting for her, extraordinary praise from Riley Green and a place on the team of an artist she’d listened to while growing up in Iran.

Adam Levine still had kind words for her.

But Green wasn’t about to let him escape the fact that his chair had never moved.

Three coaches heard enough to turn. Riley Green called it the most powerful vocal performance he’d heard on the show. And Adam Levine was left taking a merciless two-word roasting from the country star who couldn’t understand how he’d let Saade pass him by.
