Miranda Lambert and Ella Langley Finally Unleash ‘Snakeskin Boots’ — Their Feisty New Duet Brings ‘Mythic Cowgirl Energy’ to Crisco
Miranda Lambert’s long-awaited new album has finally arrived — and one of its biggest surprises pairs her with Ella Langley for a swaggering new country collaboration fans had been waiting to hear in full.
Lambert released Crisco on Friday, October 2, marking her first album with new record label MCA.
The 12-track project was co-produced by Lambert and Jesse Frasure and mixes the country attitude that has defined her career with an unexpected streak of disco.
But among songs fans had already heard, including “Crisco,” “Sunset Marquis” and “Till The Going’s Gone,” Lambert deliberately kept one collaboration under wraps until the entire album arrived.
That song is “Snakeskin Boots.”

Miranda Lambert and Ella Langley Ride Together Again
The collaboration reunites two artists who have already developed a strong creative connection.
Lambert co-produced Langley’s second studio album, Dandelion, alongside Langley and Ben West.
The pair also worked with Joybeth Taylor and Luke Dick to write Langley’s hit “Choosin’ Texas,” and previously joined forces on the duet “Butterfly Season.”
But “Snakeskin Boots” gives their partnership a different flavor.
A press release describes the song as carrying “mythic cowgirl energy,” while its sound blends the broader disco influence heard across Crisco with unmistakable Western touches.

Its opening even evokes the atmosphere of an old cowboy movie before the groove takes over.
Lambert herself found an especially vivid way to explain the attitude behind it.
She described “Snakeskin Boots” as “Thelma and Louise if they didn’t drive off the cliff.”
That combination of danger, independence and rebellious fun runs through the track.
Lambert Saved the Duet for Album Release Day
Unlike several other Crisco songs released before the album, Lambert held “Snakeskin Boots” back until October 2.
That gave listeners another reason to dive straight into the full record on release day.
Langley isn’t the album’s only high-profile guest.
Chris Stapleton appears on “A Song To Sing,” Lambert’s Grammy-nominated collaboration with the country powerhouse.
The complete Crisco tracklist is:
- “Snakeskin Boots” — with Ella Langley
- “Crisco”
- “Cowgirl Curtsy”
- “Two Things Can Be True”
- “Cuttin’ Onions”
- “Till The Going’s Gone”
- “To Everything”
- “Whiskey Business”
- “Right Where We Left It”
- “A Song To Sing” — with Chris Stapleton
- “I’ll Have To Say I Love You In A Song”
- “Sunset Marquis”
Crisco Opens a New Chapter for Miranda Lambert
The album has been described as a “vibrant, free-spirited collection” designed to capture the many sides of Lambert that audiences have come to know — from storyteller and traditionalist to romantic, wanderer, troublemaker and dreamer.
The disco influence gives that familiar personality a new backdrop without removing the country foundation underneath it.
And “Snakeskin Boots” might be one of the clearest examples.
It has the Western imagery, rebellious attitude and larger-than-life female characters that fit naturally into Lambert and Langley’s worlds, while its nostalgic groove pushes the collaboration somewhere different.
Miranda Lambert could have released “Snakeskin Boots” early. Instead, she made fans wait until Crisco arrived — and the reward is a feisty Ella Langley collaboration built around two women, a Western swagger and enough rebellious energy for Lambert to compare it to a version of Thelma & Louise where the women keep driving.
