Riley Green’s Love Life Just Took An Unexpected Turn—And Fans Are Suddenly Paying Very Close Attention RILEY GREEN HAS KEPT MUCH OF HIS ROMANTIC LIFE OUT OF THE SPOTLIGHT—BUT THAT HASN’T STOPPED ONE RECENT DEVELOPMENT FROM SENDING COUNTRY FANS INTO DETECTIVE MODE.

Riley Green may have just given fans the update they’ve been waiting for about his relationship status — and it only took one word.

The country star appeared on CBS Mornings to discuss his forthcoming album, That’s Just Me, his newfound interest in acting and life on the road. But naturally, the conversation eventually turned to Green’s love life.

When Gayle King asked about his relationship status, Green kept his response remarkably simple.

“Yeah.” That’s it: one word, no further explanation. Considering Green’s previous comments about dating, though, that one-word answer is pretty interesting.

Green has previously admitted that finding a relationship isn’t easy when his career keeps him constantly on the move.

During an appearance on This Past Week w/Theo Von, the singer explained that spending so much time on the road doesn’t exactly make it easy to meet someone.

His celebrity status can make ordinary dating situations even more complicated. Green has explained that he avoids places like bars because he gets uncomfortable when people recognize him and suddenly make him the center of attention.

“I don’t like being the center of attention when I’m not supposed to,” he said.

For Green, being watched is part of the job when he’s onstage. Offstage, he’d rather just be able to live his life.

His Schedule Was Getting in the Way

Green has also talked about how difficult it would be to settle into a serious relationship while his career is moving at its current pace.

I feel like if I could be in one place for a while, like, live somewhere. Right now, I could go take a month off, but I just can’t with everything going on and the opportunities I’ve got. I can’t make myself do it.

The singer has suggested that could eventually change as his career settles into a more manageable pace.

“In a couple of years things will stop doing this,” he said, making a gesture like a rising chart line, “and kinda plane off and I’ll have this career and say, ‘Alright, I’m gonna play 40, 60 shows a year.'”

I might film a little TV show, movie, whatever, and then I can have a life outside of it. But it’s just tough to do it right now.

That’s what makes his latest answer so interesting. After being so open about why dating has been difficult to fit into his life, Green now appears to have a much simpler answer when asked where things stand.

How Riley Green Scored a Role on ‘Marshals’

Marshals star Luke Grimes tells Taste of Country that he met Riley Green at Jamey Johnson’s wedding and the two hit it off. Riley mentioned acting and Luke told him he might be able to get him on his new CBS show, which hadn’t yet started filming.
Despite being a pretty big deal in country music and having the show’s star vouch for him, producers still made Green audition for a role literally written for him. So, somewhere out there is an audition tape featuring the two friends.
Of course he crushed the audition and has appeared in multiple episodes of Marshals Season 1.

Riley Green was actually on CMT’s Redneck Island twice. After being eliminated early in Season 4 they called him back for Season 5, and he and partner Becky Andrews won, splitting a $100,000 cash prize.
For a long time, the singer didn’t like talking about the experience but in 2025 he opened up to the Zach Sang Show, revealing his intentions for taking the TV job. “I thought, ‘Well, if they mention that I play music, it could help my career,’” he said.
It didn’t work out like that and — after taxes — he burned through the money pretty fast. The show did provide some helpful media training however, which would pay off a couple years later.

There’s Truth To That “Career Drinker” Rumor

His biography for Redneck Island described him as a career drinker and that’s a pretty funny story.
In 2014, Green told the Anniston Star about a friend of his who was a state trooper. They needed people to get drunk so their recruits could practice field sobriety training and Green voluneteered. At the end, the would-be cops would try to decide who to “take to jail” but they never pinned down Green.
The police chief said (per the news outlet) “‘This here is Riley Green, this is what we call a ‘career drinker,’ and everybody had a laugh about it.” CMT loved the story and used it as the centerpiece of his persona.

In 2019, Riley Green became a Taste of Country RISER, and during his interview he admitted to budgeting for speeding tickets.
“I drive fast,” Green shared. “I’ve said several times that I get pulled over a lot, but I pay $175 a month to drive as fast as I want … it’s probably because I get up late.”

Green wrote “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” by himself but he added his two grandfathers as songwriters because it was inspired by experiences with them. Buford Green and Lendon Bonds are the men’s names. He wrote this song shortly after Lendon’s death and debuted it early in 2019.

“Bury Me In Dixie” is one of the first songs Green wrote that fans loved. Talking to ToC, he recalled the response being so overwhelming that he was convinced on the spot to put more time and energy into songwriting.
In November 2019 he yanked the song from streaming services, with media and fans speculating it was over a lyric that went, “I wish Robert E. Lee could come back and take a bow.”
All things related to the Confederate Army were under scrutiny at the time but Green shares that the actual reason he pulled he song was because he hated the cheap production and wanted to re-cut it. Whether or not he did is unclear but the song is back online.

In 2019, Riley Green told Taste of Country Nights about the time he arm wrestled a guy at Florabama and snapped his arm. You read that right. There’s even video to prove it.
An ambulance was called and Green felt horrible for beating the old boy so soundly. This happened in about 2015 but the video is still live in 2026.

Ask around and you’ll find a half dozen or so of today’s country stars from the southeast who count indy artist Corey Smith as a huge influence. Riley is among them. On the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast, he remembered trying to sneak into his shows before he got a chance to open for Smith.
Now, Smith opens for him but he still has great respect for the Georgia singer/songwriter. He’s gotten plenty of great advice from this “Twenty One” hitmaker over the years.

Right Now, Riley Is Probably Somewhere Thinking About Ducks

Simply stating that Riley Green likes to hunt isn’t quite enough. He thinks about the sport like you’d expect him to think of his next great country song.
“I can honestly say I dated a girl for a little while and if I ever got looking off in a trance or something she’d say, ‘You’re thinking about turkeys aren’t you?'” he once told ToC. “And I was!”
Or Hes Thinking About Thrift Shopping

Or He’s Thinking About Thrift Shopping

When Riley Green tours he’s known to pop into small town thrift stores to look around or buy a vintage T-shirt. At home, he and his dad make a sport of it.
“When I go back to Alabama, there’s this big flea market that they have on Saturdays and Sundays, and me and my dad go up there and look for bargains and people’s used junk that nobody needs,” he once told Taste of Country.
Green indicated that his parents have entrance to his finances because his dad will call him on occasion for permission to buy something like a $750 trailer, which is not what they cost, so I can tell you that it’s probably a piece of junk.”

Did Riley Green Date Ella Langley?

In 2024, we straight up asked if Ella Langley and Riley Green were dating and she said, nope. They were just friends. In fact, Riley was one of the first famous people she ever met and she talked about him like you’d talk about an old pal.
Does that mean they didn’t date before or after? It does not. There’s just no evidence of it.
Did Riley Green Date Megan Moroney?

Did Riley Green Date Megan Moroney?

Neither Megan Moroney nor Riley Green have either addressed this rumor. It started when fans figured out they were both vacationing on the same island, and continued into 2025 when people thought the blonde driving around with Green was Moroney.
A more concrete piece of evidence comes from TikTok. A Meg fan wearing a Riley Green Hoochie Daddy T-shirt captured Moroney spotting her and mouthing “He f—ed up” during a concert.
Flashforward to 2026 and Moroney’s new song “Who Hurt You?” that fans think is Green-inspired. By coincidence he shared a new song called “POS Like Me” soon after.
