Prince William Reportedly “Completely United” With King Charles Over Harry and Meghan’s Royal Future as UK Return Reopens Family Tensions
Prince William is reportedly standing firmly alongside King Charles as the Royal Family prepares for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to Britain — with one issue apparently leaving little room for compromise.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to relocate to the UK later this month, six years after stepping away from royal life and moving to America in pursuit of financial independence.
Their return, however, is not expected to bring them back into the fold as working royals. Reports suggest William and the King are aligned in opposing any attempt to revive the “half-in, half-out” arrangement that became a central point of contention following the Sussexes’ departure.
Former royal butler predicts William will be “furious”

The move also puts renewed attention on the fractured relationship between William and his younger brother.
Former royal butler Grant Harrold told The Independent that he believes the Prince of Wales will react strongly to Harry’s return, particularly after everything that has been said publicly about the Royal Family in recent years.
“William will be furious,” Harrold said. “Harry has said some extraordinary things about the family.”
He suggested that trust remains at the heart of the brothers’ estrangement and that William may find it particularly difficult to move beyond what has happened.
“William is somebody that when you break trust and you go beyond a certain point, there’s no going back,” Harrold added.
His remarks are an assessment of how William may feel rather than a public statement from the Prince of Wales himself.
William and Charles reportedly agree on one crucial issue
Separate royal sources quoted by the Mirror claimed William is “completely united” with King Charles when it comes to Harry and Meghan’s future relationship with the monarchy.
According to the report, neither wants the Sussexes to return under an arrangement that would allow them to combine private commercial lives with duties as working members of the Royal Family.
The issue has followed Harry and Meghan since their dramatic departure from frontline royal duties.
They left Britain six years ago and established a new life in America, but their planned return now raises fresh questions about how their proximity to the Royal Family could affect already strained relationships.
For William in particular, Harry’s return places the brothers closer together geographically without necessarily resolving the disagreements that have kept them apart.
No official response from the palaces
Despite intense speculation surrounding the Sussexes’ return and William’s reported reaction, neither Buckingham Palace nor Kensington Palace has issued a statement addressing the latest claims.
That distinction remains important. Reports that William is “furious” and that he is firmly aligned with his father come from former royal staff and unnamed sources rather than from William or Charles directly.
What the reports do suggest, however, is that Harry and Meghan’s return to Britain should not automatically be interpreted as a return to royal duties.
Their address may be changing, but according to the latest claims, William and Charles remain firmly opposed to reopening one of the most contentious questions left behind by the Sussexes’ original departure: whether Harry and Meghan could ever combine an independent life with an official role inside the monarchy.
