In just four days, the streamer’s adaptation of Harlan Coben’s chilling mystery I Will Find You was viewed by over 24 million people. This staggering milestone makes the show’s debut comparable with some of Netflix’s popular series of all time, when it comes to first-week viewing figures.
Meanwhile, the multiple stunning twists at the end of I Will Find You will undoubtedly have whetted the appetite of viewers for Robert De Niro’s upcoming release on the small screen, The Whisper Man. This disturbing tale of a family’s hunt for a missing child shares key narrative and thematic similarities with Netflix’s new Harlan Coben thriller.
Based on the novel of the same name by Alex North, The Whisper Man looks set to be every bit as absorbing as I Will Find You. There’s no comparison between the casts of the two releases, though. The Robert De Niro movie features one of the strongest acting ensembles Netflix has ever brought together.
I Will Find You Is A Global Megahit For Netflix
On the other hand, The Whisper Man would do well to get near the spectacular viewing records Netflix’s number 1 miniseries has already wracked up. I Will Find You is the streamer’s most viewed debut series of 2026 so far. It’s been sitting at the top of streaming giant’s charts since the day it came out, on June 18.
As well as being Netflix’s global number 1, I Will Find You is the platform’s most-watched TV show in most countries around the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada. The latest figures from streaming data site FlixPatrol suggest that it’s currently getting 36% more views than the current global number 2 series, Oasis.
Robert Hull’s eight-part miniseries continues the long line of Harlan Coben adaptations to have found major success on Netflix, beginning with The Stranger in January 2020. Many of these adaptations have similar conceits, with each vying to outdo the one before the plot twists in the ones that came before it.
In I Will Find You, David Burroughs tries to prove that he’s innocent of the crime of murdering his son, Matthew. When it emerges that Matthew may still be alive, a wider conspiracy begins to take shape. The popularity of this premise with millions of Netflix subscribers will no doubt have got the team behind The Whisper Man especially excited.
Robert De Niro Has A Similar Netflix Release Out Later This Year
Robert De Niro’s next release on Netflix also centers on the disappearance of a young boy, with the criminal intent behind this mystery even more terrifying than the truth behind Matthew Burroughs’ kidnapping. De Niro plays a retired police detective haunted by a similar case from his past. He just happens to be the missing boy’s grandfather, too.
Alongside him, The Whisper Man features a cast of TV’s best and brightest, including Adam Scott, Michelle Monaghan, and John Carroll Lynch. In addition, Michael Keaton is set to play the titular villain at the center of the story. The amount of screen talent involved in this Netflix original movie is almost unprecedented.

Behind the camera, relative novice James Ashcroft is directing, having earned acclaim for his previous two feature films, both of which are in the horror genre. The Russo brothers have produced the movie, alongside their longtime collaborator Angela Russo-Otstot, and Michael Disco, who produced 2023’s The Flash.
The Whisper Man will debut on Netflix on August 28, without any theatrical release. If it can reach half the numbers of viewers that I Will Find You has managed to attract, the movie will be regarded as a triumph for the streaming platform.
