It’s almost time for Peter Parker’s return to the big screen in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Before details about the upcoming superhero film starring Tom Holland and Zendaya were released, Holland himself confirmed a fourth installment while speaking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show in October 2024.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is slated to premiere in on July 31, and ahead of the movie’s release, Holland admitted that although he is “proud” of the film, he was a bit “hesitant” to return for another movie.
“It wasn’t until I sat down with Destin, our director, and he pitched me ideas of how he wanted to make a more personal story that I really felt like we were investing in the character in a way that the fans would really respond to,” he said during an interview on Good Morning America on July 20.
The first trailer for the movie dropped in March 2026, giving fans their first look at what to expect in the next chapter of the superhero’s adventures. The final trailer arrived on July 21.
Here’s everything we know so far about Spider-Man: Brand New Day, including the movie’s trailer and release.
What is Spider-Man: Brand New Day about?

Marvel released the official synopsis for Spider-Man: Brand New Day in March 2026, confirming that the movie takes place four years after the events of No Way Home.
“Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves,” the synopsis says. “Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”
Before the synopsis was released, producer Amy Pascal spoke about what’s to come.
In the 2021 film, fans saw Holland return as Peter Parker and Zendaya as MJ to a world that learned of his superhero identity. Wishing to return to the way things were before everyone knew he was Spider-Man, Peter enlists help from Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to change the course of history.
Doctor Strange casts a spell to erase everyone’s memory of Spider-Man and Peter Parker, leaving Holland’s character with the chance to lead a life of his choosing.
“We have to deal with the fact that he decided he was going to give up being Peter Parker, and he was gonna focus on being Spider-Man, because being Peter Parker was too hard. So that’s what the movie is about,” Pascal told Deadline in December 2024.
Who is in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day cast?

Holland will reprise his role as Spider-Man — and Pascal couldn’t be happier about his return to the franchise.
“He inhabited Peter Parker in a way that was completely unique. He was emotional. He was funny. He had a pathos to him that is hidden behind his smile,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in June 2023 of Holland’s past performances. “But you can feel it. He’s hiding it from you in a way that’s beautiful.”
In March 2025, Sony confirmed that Zendaya will reprise her role as MJ, while Jacob Batalon will return to play Ned Leeds. Jon Favreau is also back to portray Happy Hogan.
Newcomer Sadie Sink will join the cast, per Deadline, and though no details about her character have been released, eagle-eyed fans say she can be briefly spotted in the movie’s first trailer.

Filming for Spider-Man: Brand New Day began in the summer of 2025 and took place in London — a tidbit fans learned about when Holland’s charity, The Brothers Trust, announced a raffle in February 2025.
The grand prize was: “A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, Tom Holland, in London, on the movie set of Marvel’s Spider-Man 4.”
Filming wrapped in December 2025, which director Destin Daniel Cretton confirmed in an Instagram post celebrating the end of the project.
Sharing a shout out to Holland, Cretton thanked him “for your kind, generous leadership on and off screen, for your relentless work ethic, your fearless performances, and for your friendship.”
Is there a Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer?
The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day debuted on March 18, catching fans up on where Peter is four years into the future — and long after MJ has forgotten about his existence. At the time, he also seems to be losing the abilities that made him a superhero in the first place.
“Hi, my name is Peter Parker. You don’t remember me, but we used to know each other,” he says in a voice over in the trailer. “Something bad was going to happen and the only way to stop it was to make everyone forget about me. Because I’m not just Peter Parker, I’m Spider-Man.”
The new footage also shows him looking for help from Mark Ruffalo, who is reprising his role as Bruce Banner in the movie.
The final trailer for the movie debuted on July 21 — days before the movie’s release date — and focused on MJ forgetting about her relationship with Peter. It also included a new shot of Ruffalo in character as the Hulk.
When will Spider-Man: Brand New Day premiere?

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will hit theaters on July 31, 2026 — one week later than its initial release date of July 24.
The new date will distance the film further from the premiere of Christopher Nolan‘s The Odyssey, which also stars Holland and Zendaya, on July 17.
Will Spider-Man: Brand New Day be the last?

When Holland and Zendaya’s Spider-Man trilogy wrapped and hit theaters in 2021, Pascal confirmed to Fandango in November 2021 that the third installment wouldn’t be the last fans saw of the friendly neighborhood hero.
“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel … the last Spider-Man movie,” she told the outlet. “We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel.”
Pascal added, “We were thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.”
With that said, it appears — though not confirmed — that moviegoers can expect a second trilogy, totaling six Holland-starring Spidey films in the MCU.
