Period drama fans don’t have long left to watch a classic before it disappears.

Enthusiasts of period dramas have just a matter of days remaining to catch a beloved Jane Austen adaptation that forms part of Netflix’s extensive historical drama collection.

The romantic film centres on five sisters as they navigate questions of marriage and morality, and it features Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen in leading roles.

The production in question is the 2005 adaptation of Pride & Prejudice, which draws from Jane Austen’s 1813 novel of the same title.

Actress Knightley portrays Elizabeth Bennet, while Macfadyen takes on the role of Mr Darcy in the film, which proved a box office success and has garnered widespread acclaim from audiences.

One audience member posted on IMDb reviews describing it as an “emotional masterpiece”, though it will soon be departing Netflix.

The star-laden film, which features Vera’s Brenda Blethyn as Mrs Bennet, is set to leave the streaming platform on Saturday, June 20.

Regrettably, it isn’t available to watch on any alternative subscription service. Nevertheless, devotees can purchase the film digitally from Prime Video and Apple TV for £2.99.

Following its original release, the film earned $121.6 million (£91 million) globally and received favourable reviews from critics, with particular commendation for Knightley’s portrayal.

Devotees have flocked to IMDb reviews to express their opinions, with one declaring: “Pride and Prejudice was the best movie I’ve seen in a very long time, if not the best I’ve ever seen.

“It captured the very essence of Jane Austen’s brilliant novel. In fact, I enjoyed the movie more than the book itself. Everything about the movie was perfect.

“This movie is a work of art, an emotional masterpiece. Watching this movie was actually a life-changing experience.”

Another enthusiast described it as “perfect”, continuing: “Excellent direction, acting, script, character development, sets, photography, editing. I believe Jane Austen would have been well satisfied with this film version of her book.”

A third audience member remarked: “Absolutely perfect 2-hour adaptation… I must give this movie 5 stars, 10 out of 10, 100% brilliance.

“The story itself, the characters, the actors, everything that was in the movie ‘bewitched me body and soul’. I have never been more moved by a movie, especially not one where I found it to be as hilarious as it was moving.”

The film boasts other major names including Rosamund Pike, Judi Dench, Kelly Reilly and Tom Hollander.

Pride and Prejudice departs Netflix on Saturday, 20 June.
