CRISTIANO RONALDO WALKS AWAY FROM PORTUGAL AFTER JORGE JESUS CLASH — ‘I WILL TELL ALL THE PORTUGUESE THE TRUTH’

Cristiano Ronaldo has sensationally walked away from the Portugal national team in the middle of the international break — and his decision came just hours after manager Jorge Jesus insisted there had been “no incident whatsoever.”
The 41-year-old Al-Nassr striker held a hastily arranged crisis meeting with Jesus on Wednesday after being left furious by his omission from Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Norway.
Whatever was said behind closed doors appears to have changed everything.
Ronaldo has now announced that he is leaving the national team, potentially bringing his extraordinary international career to an abrupt end.
RONALDO’S BOMBSHELL CAME HOURS AFTER JESUS SPOKE

Ronaldo confirmed his decision in a statement posted on Instagram.
“After the press conference of the national team, and following a conversation with the President of the Portuguese Football Federation, I have decided to leave the national team.”
But it was what Ronaldo said next that immediately raised the stakes.
“In time, I will tell all the Portuguese the truth about the reasons that motivated me to leave the national team, to which I always devoted myself.”
He then wished Portugal and his teammates well.
For now, however, Ronaldo has given no further explanation of what happened during his meeting with Jesus.
JESUS INSISTED THERE WAS ‘NO INCIDENT WHATSOEVER’

The timing of Ronaldo’s announcement was striking.
Just beforehand, Jesus had publicly rejected the idea that there was a serious problem between himself and Portugal’s record goalscorer.
“There was no incident whatsoever,” the manager told reporters.
Jesus explained that Ronaldo had spent around 20 or 30 minutes warming up without being brought onto the pitch, acknowledging that no player would be happy in that situation.
But he was equally clear about who made the final decision.
“Afterwards, as coach, I decided not to bring him on. It’s nothing to make a fuss about.”
Jesus went further, insisting that Ronaldo would not influence his tactical decisions.
“The way I was reading the game, he didn’t come on,” he said.
“Because it’s not Cristiano, just like it will never be any player that will change my ideas as the coach. Never!”
RONALDO HAD WALKED STRAIGHT DOWN THE TUNNEL

The tension had already been visible after the Norway match.
Ronaldo walked straight down the tunnel following Portugal’s victory, prompting Jesus to explain why his captain appeared unhappy.
“I did not realise he was upset,” Jesus said after the game.
“Only he can answer that.”
The manager insisted that leaving Ronaldo on the bench did not mean he no longer relied on him, revealing that he had planned to introduce him as a substitute.
“This is football,” Jesus said.
Instead, Goncalo Ramos started up front and scored the winning goal, maintaining Portugal’s perfect start to the Nations League.
Jesus subsequently confirmed that Ramos would start the next match against Denmark.
A DECISION RONALDO HAD ONLY JUST MADE
The announcement is even more dramatic because Ronaldo had only recently spoken about his determination to continue playing for Portugal.
After previously considering his international future following Portugal’s World Cup defeat by Spain, he ultimately chose to carry on when Jesus replaced Roberto Martinez.
Just a week ago, Ronaldo explained why he still believed he could contribute.
“I still believe that I’m able to help the national team to reach what they want, and will finish when I feel like I’m not doing anything here.”
He also stressed that his role went beyond simply scoring goals, particularly with a younger generation emerging.
But that future now appears to have changed dramatically.
234 CAPS. 146 GOALS. AND NOW A STUNNING EXIT
Ronaldo leaves Portugal with 234 caps and 146 goals, having built one of the most remarkable international careers in football history.
Yet his final chapter could now be remembered for a bitter disagreement over one decision: being left on the bench against Norway.
Jesus has insisted his choice was purely tactical.
Ronaldo has said the full story will come later.
And with his promise that he will eventually reveal “the truth” about why he walked away, the most explosive part of the story may not have been told yet.
