PAKISTAN STAR REFUSES KING CHARLES… Despite Being TOLD TO ATTEND ‘WITHOUT FAIL’ — Royal Snub Sends SHOCKWAVES Through Cricket!” Pakistan cricket has been plunged into fresh turmoil after one of the players axed from the Test squad reportedly refused to meet King Charles III, despite being firmly instructed to attend the royal engagement at Clarence House. Four of the seven dropped players turned up. Another reportedly decided he had had enough—and stayed away in protest at how the Pakistan Cricket Board had treated him. A royal audience was supposed to bring some calm to Pakistan’s chaotic England tour. Instead, one defiant no-show has created an entirely new controversy.

Pakistan Cricket Star Refuses Compulsory King Charles Meeting After Being Axed From Squad

A Pakistan cricket star reportedly refused to attend a compulsory meeting with King Charles III after being dropped from the national squad, creating an awkward moment ahead of the team’s royal audience.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had instructed all players to attend the pre-planned engagement at Clarence House, including those who had just been removed from the squad following Pakistan’s disastrous start to their Test series against England.

King Charles Meets Pakistan National Cricket Team

Pakistan lost the opening Test at Headingley by an innings before suffering another heavy defeat at Lord’s, going down by 194 runs. They were bowled out for fewer than 200 in each of their four innings.

The poor results prompted a major shake-up from the PCB. Seven players were dropped and head coach was also dismissed, with five uncapped players called up ahead of the third and final Test at Edgbaston on September 9.

One player refuses to attend

With several of the newly selected players yet to arrive in England, the PCB was reportedly concerned that too few members of the squad would be present for the high-profile royal engagement.

As a result, the axed players were also told they were expected to attend the meeting with the King.

According to the Telegraph, some of those players had expressed a preference not to attend given the circumstances surrounding their removal from the team.

Four former squad members — Ali Usman, Aamir Jamal, Khurram Shahzad and Muhammad Awais Zafar — ultimately turned up at Clarence House.

A fifth player, whose identity has not been revealed, reportedly refused to attend altogether in protest at the way he had been treated.

The decision is understood to have contributed to an awkward atmosphere around the event, although the meeting itself was said to have gone well.

King Charles offers encouragement

The audience with King Charles lasted approximately 15 minutes and was reportedly positive and cordial despite the tensions surrounding the Pakistani team.

It is customary for touring cricket teams visiting Britain to face England to be invited to meet a member of the Royal Family or the Prime Minister.

During the meeting, Charles spoke with players and officials and offered encouragement to the Pakistan side during a particularly difficult period both on and off the field.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam presented the King with a signed cricket bat, while PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi — who also serves as Pakistan’s minister of interior and narcotics control — presented him with another gift.

The meeting therefore provided a moment of relative calm for a touring side that has endured a turbulent week, even as the circumstances surrounding one player’s absence added an unexpected layer of tension.

Pakistan prepare for final Test

Pakistan will now turn their attention to the third and final Test against England at Edgbaston on September 9, with their revamped squad hoping to prevent a series whitewash.

The PCB’s sweeping changes came after two emphatic defeats and a dramatic period of uncertainty surrounding the team.

England will then travel to Pakistan in October for a one-day tri-series involving the hosts and Sri Lanka.

The tour will mark England’s fourth separate visit to Pakistan in four years, following a 17-year gap between tours caused by security concerns.
