Cat Jarman has spoken publicly following the release of her husband Charles Spencer’s highly anticipated memoir about his late sister, Princess Diana.
The archaeologist and wife of the 9th Earl Spencer marked the publication of Swan Song: Diana, My Sister with a heartfelt message praising her husband for the determination he showed while writing the book.

On Tuesday, September 22, Cat Jarman celebrated the release of Charles Spencer’s new memoir with an emotional tribute shared on social media.
Alongside a black-and-white photograph of Charles sitting at a study table with a laptop, she wrote:
“Happy publication day, @charles.earl.spencer! I am incredibly proud of you.”
Her message came as Swan Song: Diana, My Sister officially reached readers, offering Charles Spencer’s personal account of his relationship with his younger sister, Diana.
The memoir focuses on the life of the late Princess of Wales and the memories Spencer gathered while looking back on their years together.

An emotional year of writing and memories
Jarman went on to reflect on the effort her husband had put into the project, describing the past year as one marked by both determination and deeply emotional memories.
“I’ve been endlessly impressed by your resilience and determination this past year, from the moment you decided to go ahead with this project,” she wrote.
She also recalled the long hours Spencer spent working on the memoir, revealing that he regularly began writing as early as 4am.
“all those mornings you got up at 4am to write,” she said, adding that the memories he uncovered during the process could be dramatically different in tone.
“some days the memories you unearthed were glorious, others they were utterly heartbreaking.”

Jarman also expressed her happiness that Swan Song was finally available for readers to experience for themselves.
“I’m so pleased people can finally read Swan Song for themselves and get a glimpse into the sister you wrote this book for,” she wrote.
The message ended on a personal note as Jarman reflected on her place beside Spencer throughout the writing process.
“I feel very lucky to be by your side,” she added.
