Ella Langley Fires Back At The Voice Coach Riley Green After His Comment About Her Success
Country singer Ella Langley is pushing back after The Voice coach Riley Green appeared to take credit for her success during an episode of the NBC singing competition. Langley addressed the remark during an Instagram Live session, making it clear that she was not pleased with how Green described their professional history.
The controversy began when Green, 37, referenced Langley while trying to persuade country duo Ferryn and Brinkley Wright to join his team during the September 22 episode of The Voice Season 30. The sisters received chair turns from all four coaches — Green, Kelly Clarkson, Queen Latifah, and Adam Levine — before ultimately choosing Green for the Battle Rounds.
As he made his pitch, Green pointed to his experience working with Langley, who opened for him on tour in 2024 and 2025.
“There was a girl that reminded me a lot of y’all. I took her on tour with me. Her name’s Ella Langley. She’s doing pretty well,” Green told the aspiring singers.
While Green appeared to be highlighting his experience supporting emerging country talent, Langley later suggested she interpreted the comment differently.
Ella Langley Calls Out Riley Green’s Remark

During an Instagram Live session on Thursday, October 22, Langley was asked by a fan whether Green’s comment about her success had rubbed her the wrong way.
Her response was brief but pointed.
“Yeah, when that man took credit? No, didn’t love that, but typical. Typical. Pretty typical,” Langley said while getting her hair and makeup done.
Her reaction quickly drew attention, adding a new layer to the conversation about the professional relationship between the two country artists. According to Us Weekly, Langley also unfollowed Green on social media.
Green had not publicly addressed Langley’s response at the time of the report.
Although his comment on The Voice referenced the opportunity he gave Langley to tour with him, the exchange highlights how differently the two may view the role that collaboration played in her career.
Their Musical Partnership Produced Major Hits

Langley and Green have worked together on several successful projects. Their first major duet, “You Look Like You Love Me,” was released in 2024 and became a significant hit in country music.
The song topped Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, earned double-platinum certification, and won Musical Event of the Year at the 2024 Country Music Association Awards. It later received further recognition at the 2025 CMA Awards, winning Single of the Year, Song of the Year, and Music Video of the Year.
The pair collaborated again on “Don’t Mind If I Do,” the title track of Green’s third studio album. That song also reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart and earned platinum certification.
Their professional relationship extended beyond the recording studio. Langley opened for Green during his Ain’t My Last Rodeo tour in 2024 and his Damn Country Music tour in 2025, giving her opportunities to perform before audiences across the country.
However, Langley’s recent remarks suggest she does not agree with the implication she perceived in Green’s description of their history.
Riley Green’s New Role on The Voice
Green made his coaching debut on Season 30 of The Voice in September, joining Queen Latifah alongside returning coaches Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine.
His reference to Langley came as he attempted to persuade Ferryn and Brinkley to choose him as their coach. The sisters ultimately joined his team, meaning the anecdote played a role in his pitch to the contestants.
Green first broke through in country music with “There Was This Girl” in 2018, followed by “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” in 2019. His subsequent collaborations with Langley further connected his name with some of the genre’s most successful recent releases.
Neither Green’s coaching role nor his musical achievements, however, have resolved the disagreement over his comments about Langley.

Ella Langley Faces an Eventful Period in Her Career
The exchange comes during a particularly busy stretch for Langley. Her scheduled October 9 concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was abruptly canceled because of what was described as a serious security threat.
She has also faced increased public scrutiny following the success of “Choosin’ Texas,” which reportedly broke Mariah Carey’s record for the longest run at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
During a concert in Columbus, Ohio, last month, Langley acknowledged the attention surrounding her career, telling the audience, “I don’t think I’ve ever had more opinions on myself in my life than I have in this last year.”
Her latest comments about Green add another point of discussion as her profile continues to rise. For now, Langley has made her frustration clear, while Green has yet to publicly respond to her reaction.
