Riley Green may have the perfect romantic date planned, but finding someone to share it with has become a challenge. The 38-year-old country singer has opened up about why he is still single, admitting that his demanding career keeps him away from home for more than 200 days a year. With a new album, a television coaching role and acting commitments, Green says even spending time with his beloved dog has become difficult.
Speaking to PEOPLE for its 2026 Sexiest Man Alive issue on October 30, Green confirmed that he is currently single and explained how his busy schedule has affected his personal life.
His ideal evening would involve a steak dinner, an old movie at a drive-in theatre and perhaps a ride in his 1972 Ford Bronco.
However, finding time for a relationship is proving much harder.

Riley Green Admits His Busy Lifestyle Makes Dating Difficult
Green revealed that his music career requires him to spend more than 200 days on the road each year.
His schedule became even more demanding after joining NBC’s The Voice as a coach for Season 30.
The singing competition returned on September 21, with Green and Queen Latifah joining returning coaches Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine.
Filming has required Green to spend considerable time in Los Angeles while continuing to manage his music commitments.
The country singer admitted that his lifestyle leaves little opportunity to build a serious relationship.
“I can barely make this lifestyle work!” he told PEOPLE.
He also revealed that he had not seen his dog, Carl, for a month, illustrating how frequently his career keeps him away from home.
Green’s professional responsibilities have expanded beyond music and television coaching.
He also made his acting debut in Marshals, the Yellowstone spinoff starring Luke Grimes.
Green portrays Garrett, a former Navy SEAL connected to Kayce Dutton and Cal.
Speaking about the experience, he explained that already knowing Grimes helped him feel more comfortable working on the production.
The Romantic Valentine’s Day Surprise That Didn’t Quite Work Out
Despite his current relationship status, Green has previously made considerable efforts to impress someone romantically.
He recalled arranging an elaborate Valentine’s Day surprise at his farm.
The singer purchased an old-fashioned white canvas tent and selected a scenic spot overlooking the lake.
He decorated the tent with string lights and prepared a campfire, creating what he believed would be a romantic outdoor setting.
However, keeping the preparations secret proved difficult because his date was already at the property.
Green repeatedly excused himself by pretending he needed to check on the animals.
Each time he slipped away, he would rush to the lake and complete another small part of the setup before returning.
The singer was pleased with the finished surprise, although he admitted that the woman’s reaction may not have matched his expectations.
“Well, it didn’t go that well. I mean, here we are,” Green joked.
He did not reveal the woman’s identity or explain why their relationship ended.
Riley Green Says Fame Makes Meeting Someone More Complicated
Green previously discussed the challenges of dating during a July 2026 appearance on This Past Weekend with Theo Von.
He explained that performing in front of large crowds does not necessarily make meeting potential partners easier.
Much of his time at concerts is spent backstage or on his tour bus, limiting opportunities to meet new people.
Green also admitted that he feels uncomfortable with the idea of meeting someone through Instagram.
He questioned whether someone might be interested in him personally or simply attracted to his celebrity status.
Being recognised in public can also complicate ordinary activities.
He described feeling uncomfortable when people request photographs at another artist’s concert because he does not want to distract attention from the performer.
Green also prefers avoiding situations where his presence creates unnecessary attention in restaurants or other public places.
During his conversation with Von, he recalled spending time on quieter outdoor bar decks away from other customers.
Riley Green Reveals His Hopes of Becoming a Father
Although Green is currently single, he has not ruled out marriage or children.
During his PEOPLE interview, the country star confirmed that he hopes to become a father someday.
His relationship with his nephew Joe has given him an idea of how much he might enjoy parenthood.
Green regularly keeps in touch with Joe through FaceTime, following his sporting activities and catching up on his life.
Those conversations also help the singer remain connected to his family in Alabama while travelling for work.
However, Green recognises that raising children would require changes to his current routine.
During his earlier podcast appearance, he suggested that he might eventually reduce his touring commitments to approximately 40 to 60 shows annually.
That remains a personal hope rather than an announced change to his schedule.
What Riley Green Finds Attractive in a Partner
When discussing relationships, Green explained that he is particularly attracted to women who are passionate about their own interests.
He appreciates someone who has ambitions and enjoys listening to a person speak enthusiastically about something they love.
The singer also admitted that growing up with two sisters influenced his understanding of relationships.
He learned that he is not always right and that some disagreements are not worth winning.
His sisters also introduced him to romantic comedies.
Green said he enjoys films including How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and The Wedding Planner, despite his rugged country image.
His preferred date remains refreshingly simple: a good meal, a classic movie and time spent together.
New Album and 2027 Tour Keep Riley Green Busy
Green’s demanding schedule shows little sign of slowing down.
On September 18, he released his fourth studio album, That’s Just Me.
The 19-track record was produced by Dann Huff and co-produced by Green.
Its opening song, “My Way,” also appeared in Marshals, connecting his music career with his new acting role.
Just ten days after the album’s release, Green announced a 29-date tour for 2027.
The tour is scheduled to begin on April 1 in Spokane, Washington, before travelling across the United States and Canada.
Supporting performers on selected dates include Muscadine Bloodline, Randy Houser, Jake Worthington and Hannah McFarland.
The announced run concludes on July 31 at Milwaukee’s American Family Insurance Amphitheater.
For now, Green remains focused on his music, television and acting careers while staying connected to his family whenever possible.
Although he hopes to settle down and have children in the future, the singer acknowledges that his lifestyle will need to change before he can make those plans a reality.
