Kelly Clarkson’s Las Vegas Stage Suddenly Became A Family Affair When Her Children Stepped Into The Spotlight. One Moment Had Her Duetting With Her Daughter, The Next She Was Dancing With Her Son — Giving The Superstar Mom A Residency Memory No Sold-Out Crowd Could Ever Replace.

Kelly Clarkson has performed on countless stages throughout her career, but one night during her Las Vegas residency became especially personal when she shared the spotlight with the two people she says will always have her “whole heart.”

The singer welcomed daughter River Rose, 9, and son Remington Alexander, 7, onto the stage at Planet Hollywood’s Bakkt Theater on Friday, August 18.

River joined her mother to sing “Heartbeat Song,” while Remy showed off his dance moves during Clarkson’s performance of “Whole Lotta Woman.”

For Clarkson, however, the appearances were about much more than putting on another show.

They were moments her children had specifically asked to share with their mom.

Before bringing her children onto the stage, Clarkson explained that they had approached her about becoming part of the residency.

According to the singer, they wanted to know if they could “dance or sing something” with her.

River already knew exactly which song she wanted.

She chose “Heartbeat Song,” Clarkson’s 2015 single that reached No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The reason was particularly sweet.

“She’s been jamming to this song since she was a baby,” Clarkson told the audience. “She loves this song so much, so she was like, ‘Can I sing this song?’”

River then joined her mother for the lively duet.

Once they finished, Clarkson immediately turned into a proud mom.

“You look gorgeous! You did amazing. I love you,” she told her daughter.

Remy gets his own moment in the spotlight

River was not the only Clarkson child ready to perform.

Remington — affectionately known as Remy — joined his mother while she sang “Whole Lotta Woman,” from her 2017 album Meaning of Life.

Instead of singing alongside her, Remy danced as Clarkson performed.

The two appearances gave each child a chance to participate in the show in their own way: River singing a song she had loved since infancy and Remy dancing beside his mom.

Fans in attendance captured both moments on video, preserving an unusually intimate family memory from the Las Vegas residency.

“They will always have my whole heart”

Clarkson had already hinted that something special was coming before the concert.

She shared a photograph of her smiling children backstage as they prepared for their appearances.

“Both of my kiddos backstage getting ready to join me on stage in Vegas,” she wrote.

Clarkson then made clear just how meaningful the night was to her.

“Nothing will ever be as cool and amazing as these two little humans that will always have my whole heart.”

The family cameos took place during Clarkson’s Chemistry residency, which had opened at Planet Hollywood on July 28.

River’s appearance was not her only musical collaboration with Clarkson.

Earlier that week, Clarkson announced a deluxe edition of her 10th studio album, Chemistry.

The expanded 22-track collection was scheduled for release on September 22 through Atlantic Records and included eight additional songs and remixes.

Among them was “You Don’t Make Me Cry,” a ballad featuring River Rose.

The original Chemistry album had reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200 in July.

That meant River’s Las Vegas duet was more than an isolated appearance. The young singer was also preparing to be heard alongside her mother on an official album release.

A family memory beyond the residency

Clarkson shares River and Remy with her former husband, music manager Brandon Blackstock.

The couple were married for approximately seven years before their divorce. During their marriage, they were also raising Blackstock’s two children from a previous marriage, Savannah and Seth.

But on this particular night in Las Vegas, Clarkson’s attention was entirely on the two children standing beside her.

River got to perform a song she had loved since she was a baby. Remy got to dance onstage while his mother sang. And Clarkson got something even more meaningful than another successful residency performance.

She got to look across the stage and see both of her children becoming part of the show with her.
