Bad Bunny Just Added Another Historic Milestone To His Record-Breaking Career. Months After Commanding One Of The Biggest Stages In The World At The 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show, The Puerto Rican Superstar Has Won His First Primetime Emmy — Turning A Spectacular Night Of Music Into An Award-Winning Piece Of Television History.

Bad Bunny Makes Emmy History as Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Sweeps All Seven Nominations

Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime performance has officially become the most awarded halftime show in Emmy history.

Seven months after making Grammy history with Debí Tirar Más Fotos, the Puerto Rican superstar added another major milestone when his 13-minute Super Bowl performance swept all seven of its nominated categories during the first night of the Emmys.

The result gave Bad Bunny his first Emmy and turned a performance that had arrived under intense scrutiny into one of the night’s biggest winners.

It also made The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny the first Spanish-language program ever to win Outstanding Variety Special (Live).

A clean sweep across seven categories

Bad Bunny caps blockbuster year with Emmy Award for Super Bowl performance

Bad Bunny’s halftime show won every Emmy category in which it had been nominated.

The victories included Outstanding Variety Special (Live), as well as directing, music direction, choreography, sound mixing, lighting design, technical direction and camerawork.

The awards recognized both the scale of the production and the technical work behind the performance, which combined Puerto Rican imagery, Latin music and appearances from guests including Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin.

The clean sweep immediately placed the show in the record books.

No previous Super Bowl halftime performance had collected as many Emmys.

Only the second halftime show to win the top program prize

The Outstanding Variety Special (Live) victory also put Bad Bunny’s performance in rare company.

Only one previous Super Bowl halftime show had won the category: the 2022 performance featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent.

Bad Bunny’s win therefore made him part of a very short list.

But the historical significance went further.

His halftime show became the first Spanish-language program to take home the award.

The performance arrived after months of controversy

Bad Bunny’s selection as the Super Bowl LX halftime headliner had generated enormous attention before he ever stepped onto the field.

Rather than directly engaging with the criticism during the performance, he delivered a simple message.

“The only thing more powerful than hate is love.”

Months later, Emmy voters gave the show the strongest possible endorsement by awarding it in every category for which it was nominated.

The sweep transformed the halftime show from a major cultural moment into a record-setting television achievement.

Another historic award after his Grammy breakthrough

The Emmy triumph came during an already extraordinary year for Bad Bunny.

Seven months earlier, Debí Tirar Más Fotos — translated as I Should Have Taken More Photos — became the first Spanish-language album to win the Grammy for Album of the Year.

That achievement had already placed him in music history.

Now the Emmy adds another major industry honor to the same remarkable run.

The two victories also highlight the reach of his work across different formats, with one award recognizing a landmark album and the other honoring a live television spectacle.

Bad Bunny appeared in another Emmy-winning production

His presence at the Emmys was not limited to the Super Bowl performance.

The season premiere of Saturday Night Live that he hosted also won Outstanding Makeup for a Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Program.

That meant two separate productions featuring Bad Bunny picked up awards on the same night.

Still, the Super Bowl sweep remained the defining achievement.

Sabrina Carpenter also won her first Emmy

Bad Bunny was not the only music star celebrating a first Emmy.

Sabrina Carpenter won as an executive producer and performer on The Muppet Show, which took Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) along with three additional awards.

The Emmy moved Carpenter another step closer to an EGOT.

She had already won two Grammys in 2025, taking Best Pop Solo Performance for “Espresso” and Best Pop Vocal Album for Short n’ Sweet.

With Grammy and Emmy wins now secured, she is halfway toward completing the four major American entertainment awards.

Taylor Swift went winless on Night 1

The Muppet Show also defeated Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show in the pre-recorded variety special category.

Swift entered the night with five nominations but did not win any of them during Night 1.

That result stood in sharp contrast to Bad Bunny’s perfect seven-for-seven record.

The scale of the Super Bowl performance was fully rewarded

The halftime show’s seven Emmys reflected far more than Bad Bunny’s presence alone.

The awards recognized the creative teams behind nearly every major part of the production, from choreography and musical direction to lighting, camera work and technical execution.

That matters because a Super Bowl halftime show has to function simultaneously as a concert, live television event and massive stadium production.

Bad Bunny’s performance succeeded across all of those areas in the eyes of Emmy voters.

His momentum extends beyond music and television

Bad Bunny’s current run is also expanding into film.

His song “EoO” appears in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, while he is set to star in the upcoming film Porto Rico.

The project comes from fellow Puerto Rican artist Residente and adds another major screen role to Bad Bunny’s growing entertainment career.

A record-setting night

The headline result, however, remains the seven-Emmy sweep.

Bad Bunny entered the Super Bowl under a level of attention that went far beyond the usual halftime conversation.

He left it with one of the most culturally discussed performances of the year.

And months later, the Television Academy turned that moment into something even bigger.

Seven nominations.

Seven wins.

A first Emmy for Bad Bunny.

And a new record for the most awarded Super Bowl halftime show in Emmy history.
