Say child stardom is a blessing—but for many of the biggest ’90s stars, it came with a price few could have imagined. While some turned early fame into lifelong success, others watched the spotlight fade almost as quickly as it arrived.

If they weren’t carefully nurturing a Giga Pet or squeakily relaxing on inflatable chairs, chances are ’90s kids were settling down in front of the TV screen for some of the decade’s best family flicks. From The Parent Trap to Home Alone and Dr Dolittle, there was plenty to keep the kids amused.

Haley Joel Osment starred in ‘Forrest Gump’ and ‘The Sixth Sense’

Haley Joel Osment had leading roles in two of the ’90s most iconic feature films: Bruce Willis thriller The Sixth Sense and Forrest Gump.

His recent roles include a guest role in The Boys, an appearance in Happy Gilmore 2 and body horror Tusk. The Oscar-nominee is due to appear in upcoming comedy How To Date Again.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen found joint fame in the ’90s

The Olsen Twins are strongest when they’re together: after all, that’s how they got their start on ABC’s Full House. Throughout the ’90s, they starred in films like How the West Was Fun and It Takes Two, as well as credits on TV series Two of a Kind and a successful music career.

Now, they’ve found success as fashion designers, running luxury label The Row. Mary-Kate was married to French businessman Olivier Sarkozy between 2015 and 2021. Sister Ashley is married to artist Louis Eisner and they share a son, Otto.

Raven-Symoné’s star career through the ’90s included roles in The Cosby Show and Dr Dolittle (1998). This gave way to a successful run on the Disney Channel with That’s So Raven and family favourite The Cheetah Girls.

The actress returned to her Disney roots with That’s So Raven spin-off Raven’s Home, as well as comedy Stop! That! Train!, sitcom The Ms. Pat Show and War Dawgz. Raven quietly tied the knot with Miranda Pearman-Maday in 2020.

Macaulay Culkin had major on-screen roles throughout the ’90s

Macaulay Culkin had an unparalleled run of on-screen success during the ’90s. From the Home Alone franchise to heartbreaking hit My Girl and family comedy Richie Rich, Macaulay was at the heart of Hollywood.

The actor still keeps largely out of the limelight, but returns for projects he finds particularly inspiring. Macaulay recently worked on season two of Fallout and a small role in Zootopia 2. He is engaged to long-term partner Brenda Song and the couple share two children.

Mara Wilson was one of the ’90s go-to child actors, with leading roles in Matilda, Miracle on 34th Street, Mrs. Doubtfire and A Simple Wish.

She now works primarily as a voice actress for podcasts like Vam PD and Love is a Crime, as well as animated series Ollie & Scoops and Helluva Boss.

Lindsay Lohan starred ’90s favourite ‘The Parent Trap’

Lindsay Lohan earned double the fame with a twin appearance in The Parent Trap. Just five years later, she starred with Jamie Lee Curtis in the 2003 hit Freaky Friday, followed the year after by a lead role in Mean Girls.

She’s returned to the limelight in rom-coms hits like Irish Wish, Our Little Secret and Falling for Christmas. She also returned to her early ’00s work in sequel flick Freakier Friday. Lindsay is married to financier Bader Shammas with whom she shares son Luai.

Jonathan Taylor Thomas most recently made a four episode cameo in Last Man Standing, but has otherwise left acting behind and opted for a private life away from show business.
