The actor plays Calvin Penney, a Newfoundland fisherman and single father of three with a tragic past. When a violent sea creature begins terrorising his hometown, it’s up to Calvin to hold his tight-knit community together.

What is Below about?
The series follows Calvin Penney, a “big‑hearted but stubborn fisherman” who is still haunted by his father’s mysterious death from decades ago.
When his small village comes under attack by a violent creature, locals “succumb to mayhem” and his son Wade starts exhibiting “terrifying new symptoms,” Calvin joins forces with marine biologist Fonda to uncover the truth.
The synopsis continues: “Determined to keep his son Wade (Charlie Heaton) and the rest of his family safe, he teams up with a visiting marine researcher (Mackenzie Davis) to confront the creature and reveal the island’s buried secrets before it’s too late. Blending local myth, thrilling suspense, and heartfelt humor, this twisty six-part limited series dives into themes of family, community, and change — both terrifying and inevitable.”
