Prince Harry Gives a One-Word Answer About Returning to the UK During Nottingham Appearance
Prince Harry offered a brief but telling response when asked how he felt about being back in Britain, as he and Meghan Markle received a warm welcome during their first joint public appearance since returning to the UK.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Nottingham on Thursday, October 15, where crowds gathered outside the city’s Community Recording Studio to catch a glimpse of the couple. Harry and Meghan took their time greeting well-wishers, chatting with members of the public and posing for selfies.
When HELLO!‘s online royal correspondent Eleanor Dye asked Harry, “How does it feel to be back?”, the Duke initially appeared not to hear the question. He then turned towards the camera and delivered a one-word reply.
His relaxed demeanour appeared to reflect the positive mood of the visit, as he continued greeting people alongside his wife.

Meghan and Harry Receive a Warm Welcome in Nottingham
The couple’s arrival prompted cheers, smiles and handshakes from those waiting outside the Community Recording Studio.
Charlotte O’Neill, 39, had an opportunity to speak to Meghan as the Duchess arrived. She complimented Meghan on how “stunning” she looked, to which the Duchess graciously replied, “Thank you.”
O’Neill later described the atmosphere as “happy” and “excited”, reflecting the enthusiasm among those who had gathered to see the couple in person.
Meghan wore an oversized burgundy coat, paired with matching high heels in a coordinated look. Harry opted for a smart blue suit.
The visit also carried personal significance for the Sussexes. Nottingham was where they made an appearance shortly after announcing their engagement in 2017, making the city an important part of their early story together.
As they moved on to their next engagement, Meghan was also asked whether she was happy to be back in Britain. The smiling Duchess gave a brief, affirmative response.
Harry Describes His Return as “Eventful”

Harry had already offered a broader reflection on his return to British soil in an interview with HELLO! at the Invictus Spirit Awards, held two weeks after his arrival in the UK.
Describing the preceding fortnight, the Duke said: “The last two weeks have been… it’s been eventful. But, you know, we’re getting stuck into the work. Kids are in school. We’re happy.”
He continued: “And as I said, it’s great to be back on British soil, and looking forward to Birmingham next year for the Invictus Games that’s coming up.”
His comments suggested that the family had been settling into a busy period, with the children’s schooling and his ongoing commitments among their priorities.
Harry’s return has also involved a series of public appearances and engagements, including activities connected to the Invictus community.
Meghan Resumes Her Own Activities in Britain

While Harry has been increasingly visible at public events, Meghan has maintained a comparatively low profile since returning to the UK.
She has nevertheless been spotted at business lunches in London as she continues developing her lifestyle brand, As Ever, alongside her charitable work.
The Nottingham visit marked a significant moment for the couple, bringing them back together in public in a city associated with the beginning of their relationship.
Their warm reception, interactions with well-wishers and brief comments about being back in Britain offered a glimpse into how the Duke and Duchess are approaching this latest chapter of their lives in the UK.
