HARRY KANE REVEALS HIS UNEXPECTED THREE-STEP CAREER PLAN — BAYERN STAR HAS NFL SWITCH IN HIS SIGHTS

Harry Kane is already thinking beyond football — and the England captain has revealed an extraordinary plan for what could come after his playing career.

At 33, Kane is preparing to commit his future to Bayern Munich, with the striker “fairly close” to agreeing a new contract that could keep him in Germany until 2029.

But his plans after Bayern are even more intriguing.

Kane has hinted that he could eventually head to Major League Soccer before making an unlikely switch into American football and pursuing a career as an NFL kicker.

The idea is not entirely out of the blue.

Kane is a huge NFL fan, is close friends with American football legend Tom Brady and has previously spoken about his admiration for the sport.

He also has a potential blueprint to follow in Brandon Aubrey, who played professional football before becoming the Dallas Cowboys’ kicker.

For now, however, Kane insists his priority remains extending his football career for as long as possible.

“We’re in good talks, I’ll be honest. We’re fairly close. There’s still some things that we need to iron out,” Kane said of his Bayern future.

“I’m happy there. I think it won’t be too long before there’s some sort of announcement.”

Kane has also ruled out allowing thoughts of retirement to distract him from his current ambitions.

“I think sometimes it is easy to get to my age, 33, you start thinking about retirement or the future but I am trying to extract everything I can from the last two, five or 10 years,” he said.

Yet the possibility of an NFL career is clearly sitting somewhere in his mind.

“That is something I will try and look at a bit more seriously,” Kane admitted.

“It all depends on what happens in my career over the next five or six years, the motivation and what I want to do. The NFL is a lot more realistic than the golf one, let’s put it that way.”

Kane suggested MLS could eventually provide the bridge between the two sports.

“If I am in the MLS in the future or somewhere like that, it might be a thing where you could connect the two maybe with the seasons,” he said.

Before any dramatic change of sport, though, Kane has another major ambition to fulfil.

The Bayern striker is chasing the Ballon d’Or after scoring a remarkable 73 goals for club and country last season, putting him up against stars including Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal.

Winning the award would make Kane the first Englishman to claim the prize in 25 years.

“I think I’m definitely in the running to win it, without a doubt,” Kane said.

He admitted lifting the trophy would be “unbelievable” and something he would be “extremely proud” of.

But Kane insisted the praise that means most to him comes from fellow players and former stars rather than from his own assessment of his achievements.

“I think from my point of view, I’ve been happy… it makes me more proud when other people talk about me, when other team-mates or ex-players or whoever it is, people who compliment me on what I achieved,” he said.

For now, Kane remains focused on Bayern, England and adding to his remarkable goalscoring record. But behind the scenes, the striker is already contemplating what comes next — and his eventual destination could be a very different kind of football.
