“We Love Ya and Will Be Back!” Zach Bryan and John Mayer Set Michigan Stadium on Fire with a Grateful Dead Classic, Sending Chords and Lyrics Straight to the Soul

Despite a turbulent few weeks marked by a public feud with fellow country artist Gavin AdcockZach Bryan ended 2025 on an unforgettable note with a record-breaking performance at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. Before the concert, Bryan made waves by selling his music catalog for an astonishing $350 million, a move that underscored his rapid rise in country music since debuting in 2019 with only five studio albums. Bryan’s live show showcased his versatility, including a special tribute to the Grateful Dead alongside John Mayer.

Breaking Records: Surpassing the King of Country

Last year, George Strait set a high bar by performing to 110,000 fans at Texas A&M University’s Kyle Field, making it the largest ticketed concert in U.S. history at the time. However, Bryan eclipsed that milestone this past weekend by drawing a crowd of over 112,000 at Michigan Stadium, setting a new record for a ticketed show.

To celebrate the achievement, Bryan invited John Mayer onstage for a memorable rendition of “Friend of the Devil.” Having already delivered a set featuring 27 of his hit songs, Bryan made sure to share the spotlight. The night also featured performances by Joshua Slone and Ryan Bingham and the Texas Gentlemen, adding depth and diversity to the event.

Fans and Gratitude: Bryan’s Reflection on a Landmark Night

A fan-uploaded video of Bryan and Mayer’s “Friend of the Devil” quickly went viral on YouTube, drawing thousands of views and praise. Comments included, “Man this sounds awesome,” and “What a blessing it was to experience this!!”

After the show, Bryan took to Instagram Stories to thank those behind the scenes: “I didn’t get the proper chance to thank all the crew, police, security, chefs, stage hands, the people who ran the camera and every soul who had a part in the show at Michigan yesterday.”

He also expressed his appreciation to fans and promised a return: “Thank you Michigan! We love ya and will be back!”

Closing out the year with a monumental achievement, Zach Bryan not only set a new attendance record but also solidified a defining moment in his career—one that will be remembered by fans and the country music world for years to come.
