Tom Jones on the importance of his song for his late wife
Sir Tom Jones was married to his childhood sweetheart Linda for 59 years after they got together as teenagers. The 82-year-old lost his wife in April 2016 aged 75 after a “short but fierce” battle with lung cancer.
In a recent interview, The Voice UK coach was asked if he believes he could ever fall in love again.
Gushing over his wife, he said Linda was a “a part of me” and doesn’t think he would have the same connection with someone else.
He told Joe Wicks on his podcast: “No, I’ll never love again. There was one love of my life, and that was Linda.
“I’m glad we had our lives together but I wish she was here now, we would be old together.”
Tom went on to say he had fallen for Linda at just 12 years old, with the pair going on to marry four years later.
A month later, they welcomed their only child together, a son named Mark.
“We grew up together and we loved one another ever since we saw one another,” he added.
Last week, Tom left The Voice UK audience in tears when he sang his song I Won’t Crumble If You Fall, dedicatedto his late wife.
