A “true masterpiece” is on its way, brought to life by the creator behind The Haunting of Hill House. Stephen King is widely regarded as one of the best writers of all time, especially in the horror genre thanks to work like It, The Shining, Misery and The Shawshank Redemption.
Now another one of his creations is coming to the small screen and this time, it’s King’s first ever published novel Carrie. Originally released in 1974, Carrie is about the titular “misfit high-schooler” who has “spent her life hidden away inside the walls of her home with her fiercely protective mother”.

The official synopsis continues: “After her father’s sudden, untimely death thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of public high school, Carrie is forced to navigate a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community.
“The relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social‑media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers that rise alongside her adolescence.”
Prime Video has released its first-look images of its eight-part adaptation of Carrie which is set to air later this year.
Taking on the iconic role of Carrie White is Hunter Hunter and Night of the Reaper actress Summer Howell.
She will be joined by The Pitt star Samantha Sloyan as Carrie’s mum Margaret, Resident Evil’s Siena Agudong as Sue Snell and My Life With the Walter Boys star Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross.
Other stars include The Buccaneers’ Josie Tota, Prey actress Amber Midthunder and Arthur Conti from Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, just to name a few.

What makes this fresh new adaptation even more exciting is the fact it’s been created by none other than Mike Flanagan who is behind The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass.
Stephen King himself will also be working behind the scenes as an executive producer on the Prime Video production.
Teasing what fans can expect, the rest of the description adds: “The series expands King’s cultural landmark – deepening its characters and tensions, and following the small, everyday choices that build toward a single, shattering night.
“In a gripping, deeply human story about kindness versus cruelty, and whether we’re witnessing the making of a hero, a monster, or something far more complicated.”
