PETER Alexander’s wife has appeared to throw shade at Today, months after he departed from NBC and landed a new gig.

The Today co-host and chief White House correspondent worked on the network for two decades before his abrupt exit.

Peter, 50, announced he wouldn’t be returning to the morning show during a live broadcast in March, citing his hectic work schedule and constant time away from his family as the reason.

However, his wife, Alison Starling, 52, seemed to hint that there was more to the story behind his decision to leave the network.

On Sunday, Alison, who is a former TV news anchor herself, praised her husband while seemingly taking a swipe at NBC in an Instagram post.

She shared a black-and-white photo of Peter giving a speech at an intimate dinner, while boasting about his new career opportunity in her caption.

“I am so proud of and excited for @peteralexandertv as he launches his new show tomorrow!” the Living Well podcast host gushed.

“He has worked tirelessly to earn this opportunity, and we are so lucky that at the same time it’s better for our family!

“Thank you @msnownews for rolling out the red carpet for Peter that he deserves. Now, Let’s Go! @stateofplaymsnow is live at 11am Monday-Friday starting tomorrow,” she added.

Peter is the host of the new weekday show State of Play on MS Now, focusing on political and national news.

MS Now is also where beloved Today correspondent Jacob Soboroff landed after he departed from the show last spring when NBC and its sister network MSNBC parted ways.

Fans immediately wondered whether Alison’s caption signaled that more might have gone on behind the scenes leading to Peter’s exit.

“I feel like his wife is throwing shade at Today/NBC with this post…He’s finally getting the treatment ‘he deserves.’ I wish him the best with his new gig!” one person pointed out on Reddit.

“He always really got into the Halloween shows that I can remember. And also, he was the anchor of the Saturday morning show for a long time,” another remembered of Peter’s appearances on-screen.

“But yeah, definitely felt like him leaving was some bad blood. I thought it was interesting that he didn’t get any kind of special send-off when he left,” they added.

“I liked him. I kind of agree,” a third said.

“The Today Show made a BIG mistake not finding a permanent spot for him,” a fourth wrote on Instagram.

“So excited to watch his show! @msnownews was smart to bring him to the network!” chimed in a fifth.

Peter addressed his departure during a Saturday morning broadcast, telling viewers, “I’ve been away from my home more than 80 nights in the last seven months, more than 220 Friday nights away from my family in the last seven years.

“I’m eager to carve out a better balance between my personal and professional lives, and to challenge myself with something new,” he added.

Peter traveled from his home in Washington, D.C. to the New York City studios on Saturdays to film the show.

He first joined the weekend taping in 2018 and became NBC’s co-chief White House correspondent three years later.
