An “amazing” best-seller is coming to Netflix and it stars Robert De Niro and Severance’s Adam Scott. Horror fans are in for a frightening treat with author Alex North’s New York Times best-selling book The Whisper Man getting a Netflix makeover. With the film set for release on Friday, August 28, The Whisper Man sees a widowed crime writer look to his estranged father and retired police detective for help after his eight-year-old son is abducted.

But as they begin to delve deeper into what really happened, they “discover a connection with the decades-old case of a convicted serial killer known as The Whisper Man”. Now, the disturbing official trailer for The Whisper Man has dropped and fans cannot wait to see how the book will be brought to life.

Taking to YouTube’s comments section, a viewer wrote: “The book was brilliant, and this adaptation looks promising.” Another commented: “Loved the book this is based off of.

“Even though I can see quite a few differences, this still looks really good.”

Someone else remarked: “They got De Niro in a horror movie, I’ll be watching”, as another commented: “I remember really enjoying the book but remember very little of it. I’m excited to watch this.”

Meanwhile, others said that it “looks amazing”, predicting that it’s going to be a “banger”, with another adding that the “book was awesome”.

Apart from The Whisper Man being based on a bestselling book, it also stars a number of high profile stars.

Leading the cast as dad Tom Kennedy is Severance and Parks and Recreation star Adam Scott. He is joined by Hollywood icon Robert De Niro as his estranged father and retired Detective Inspector Pete Willis.

Other notable familiar faces joining Scott and De Niro are True Detective actress Michelle Monaghan, Fantastic Four star Hamish Linklater and The OA star Will Brill just to name a few.

The Whisper Man premieres on Friday, August 28, on Netflix.
