Emmerdale has delivered a devastating Dr. Caitlin Todd development that has left Charity Dingle heartbroken and Mackenzie Boyd furious. As viewers of the ITV soap will recall, Dr. Todd (Caroline Harker) is destined to be killed off according to a flashforward, though the circumstances of how and when she meets her demise remain unknown to audiences.

The shocking sequence recently played out during a confrontation with Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) after he challenged Todd following the blackmail and sexual assault of his wife, Charity (Emma Atkins), who had reported the offenses to police. Last Friday, Charity took a courageous step by going to a support group in the wake of her sexual assault, but came away feeling disheartened.

She arrived home and informed a taken-aback Mackenzie where she had been, though, regrettably, the moment was somewhat undermined by a telephone call from DS Reid (Angela Lonsdale).

DS Reid informed Charity she would be visiting to deliver some news regarding the case against Todd, and, having been through police procedures before, Charity suspected that the officer was bringing further disappointing news, reports the Daily Star.

On Monday (July 20), when the detective turned up, she wasted little time in providing Charity and Mack with an update. Owing to inadequate evidence, the CPS is abandoning Charity’s case against Todd, leaving her utterly devastated.

Desperately seeking some form of justice, Charity and Mack both highlighted that Todd had relentlessly bullied Jacob Sugden (Joe-Warren Plant) during their time working together.

However, following an investigation, Reid clarified that the bullying was an employment matter rather than a criminal one.

With Todd facing no legal repercussions for her actions, Charity’s pursuit of justice appeared to have reached a dead end, prompting her to head upstairs to rest.

Consumed by frustration, Mack vented to Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick), insisting he was determined to uncover further evidence against Todd.

He pointed out to Vanessa that Todd’s previous attempts to persuade Jacob to withdraw his complaint against her suggested she had targeted other members of staff at the hospital.

Before long, Vanessa set a new plan in motion, leaving many Emmerdale fans convinced that she will ultimately be the one to kill Todd in an act of revenge.
