Craig Melvin apologized to Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones after he was caught stealing food on Today with Jenna and Sheinelle

Craig Melvin is not as stealthy as he thought he was after being caught stealing on-air.
On Friday, August 14, the Today star attempted to sneak onto the set of Today with Jenna and Sheinelle an hour after he signed off to swipe some food during a live cooking segment, but he was caught red-handed.
As the segment began, chef Alex Guarnaschelli pointed out: “Before we get into this recipe, though, I have to… we have a thief!”
Viewers then saw a dressed-down Craig swiping a fried chicken drumstick and attempting to leave the studio unnoticed.
However, sensing all three women glaring at him, Craig sheepishly turned and asked: “Are you on?”
“Craig! Are you serious?” Jenna exclaimed, with Sheinelle adding: “Are you joking?”
Craig attempted to duck down behind the set before putting his hands up in defense and declaring: “It’s great chicken, I’m sorry! I’m so sorry.”
Jenna then informed Craig that she “would have brought [him] some” as he continued trying to sneak off the set.
Appearing sympathetic towards Craig’s desire for some fried chicken, Sheinelle then encouraged him to “try the dip,” with Jenna adding: “It’s the best part.”
Of course, Craig took them up on their offer and returned to the test kitchen for some dip before issuing more apologies as he exited backstage.
Craig’s desire for the home-cooked snack is understandable: the skinless fried chicken was cooked in pickle-juice brine and dipped in a creamy sauce made from sour cream, buttermilk, mayonnaise, salt, pepper, garlic powder, hot sauce, Worcestershire, and dill.
Craig’s family vacation
The news anchor recently returned to the Today show after a vacation with his wife, Lindsay Czarniak, and their two kids, son Delano and daughter Sybil, where he embraced a more laid-back style.
Craig took to Instagram on July 27 to unveil his new stubble – a far departure from his typical clean-shaven look for daytime television. Alongside a selfie of him soaking up the sun on a beach dressed in a bright orange top, he penned a message to his fans.
“Last full day of paradise and the scruff just got approved by my most important critic. Apparently growing it out is a vacation win. Hair growing, soul restored, daughter approves—what more could you ask for? Soaking in every moment before we have to leave this place #VacationMode #ScruffyDadWins #DaddyApproved #VacationMemories,” he wrote in the caption.
Craig and Lindsay met in 2008 while both working at NBC Washington, with Craig as a news anchor and Lindsay a sports anchor.
The pair tied the knot in 2011 in Washington, D.C. – the city where they met – at the Church of the Holy City. They welcomed their son in 2014 and their daughter in 2016.
