The Rapture stars India Amarteifio and Iwan Rheon have shared their thoughts on filming the new BBC thriller.

The wait is almost over for this gripping thriller coming to BBC screens. This Sunday (July 26), viewers will see Queen Charlotte actress India Amarteifio and Years and Years star Ruth Madeley team up for the brand-new five-part series, The Rapture. The story centres on Dr Gabs Fox (Ruth), who has been left paralysed following a car accident that claimed the life of her husband. She is assigned 17-year-old patient Bethany Krall (India) upon taking up a new role at a psychiatric hospital.
Bethany has been sectioned for the horrific murder of her mother two years earlier, a case that sent shockwaves across the nation, particularly given that her father, Leonard Krall (Sam Hazeldine), leads a spiritual movement boasting millions of followers online. While Bethany claims to experience visions of the future — depicted through deeply unsettling sketches of catastrophic events — she also appears to possess intimate knowledge of Gabs’ private life.
Despite her nurse Rafiq insisting that the teenager’s predictions invariably prove accurate, Gabs remains sceptical, resolute in her pursuit of a rational, clinical explanation.
A synopsis reads: “As the heat intensifies, Gabs begins to notice unsettling connections between Bethany’s prophetic drawings and the world outside, forcing Gabs to re-examine her assumptions. Could Bethany be innocent after all? If she didn’t kill Carys Krall, who did and why?”
Gabs embarks on a deeper investigation into the Krall family’s past, enlisting the assistance of journalist Dick Carwyn (Iwan Rheon) and engineer Frasier Melville (Jack Farthing). However, as she delves deeper into the mystery, Gabs finds herself questioning – is Bethany being truthful, or is she falling victim to manipulation by a deeply troubled teenager?”
The five-part series has been shot in Wales, with actress India Amarteifio revealing her experience of working in the country.

She commented: “I’ve filmed briefly in Wales before, but this is the first time I’ve spent a longer period here, and it’s been unreal. I’m such a country girl, so it’s been perfect.
“I’ve been staying on a farm, so after a really intense day, going back to see the horses, the cows, and the beautiful green meadows has been amazing. I’ve also loved learning more about Wales by being here and speaking to the crew and cast.”
Meanwhile, Iwan added: “It’s always nice to come back and film in Wales. There have been quite a variety of locations.

“Margam Park is really nice. We filmed a lot in Port Talbot, and it was like 35 degrees, which is bizarre, because I don’t think it’s ever been that hot there!
“But yes, it’s quite nice to be in various locations all around South Wales. And Dragon Studios, of course. It’s been lovely. I love coming back here.”
The cast also features Stephen Campbell Moore, Lisa Palfrey, Siena Kelly, Naby Dakhli, Richard Elis, Dean Rehman, Robert Rhodes and Ruth Jones.
The Rapture airs Sunday July 26 on BBC One from 9pm.
