- Former The View cohost Candace Cameron Bure tells Entertainment Weekly the show asked her to return for season 30.
- The Full House and Special Forces star explains why she declined to guest-cohost the show for its landmark season.
- The conservative panelist was a permanent cohost from 2015-2016.
Candace Cameron Bure won’t return to The View any time soon because, well, she’s got a bit of a full house when it comes to family.
The conservative actress and former permanent View panelist tells Entertainment Weekly she was — among others like Sherri Shepherd, Lisa Ling, and more — asked to return to the Hot Topics table for the show’s landmark season 30, but had to decline.
“They did reach out to me, and they offered me the week that my daughter gave birth, so I knew that was coming,” the 50-year-old Special Forces contestant, Full House star, and new grandmother explains. Her daughter, Natasha Bure, had her first baby in early October. “I didn’t want to be far away and miss anything, but I’m definitely open to it.”
As for the prospect of returning to The View, which she co-hosted from 2015 to 2016, Bure says she’s “still going to think about it.”

“Yeah, you might see me at the table. We’ll see. I feel open to it if they offer up another date,” Bure says.
EW points out that, judging by past interviews, Bure’s openness to returning is a marked difference from her past remarks.
“True, true,” she says. “I don’t know that I really want to do it, but I am open to it. Listen, I just did Special Forces. I could probably go on The View again.”
EW has reached out to a View representative for comment.
Though she’s no longer speaking about current events from a post at the Hot Topics table, Bure’s social and political views have courted controversy in other ways. In 2022, for instance, she indicated that her new holiday movie network home, Great American Family, wouldn’t focus new projects on LGBTQ love stories (as others, like Hallmark and Lifetime, have).
Other cohosts have recently discussed potentially returning to The View, including Rosie O’Donnell, who indicated she’d make her way back after EW learned that current panelist Ana Navarro approached her with an informal invite earlier this year.
“That’s above my pay grade. I just sit at the table. I don’t do the bookings,” Navarro later told EW when asked to clarify.

Bure is still a contestant on the reality competition series, Special Forces, which sees her completing a number of grueling physical tasks alongside other stars like Ruby Rose, George Santos, and more.
“It’s a fun adventure. I hope everyone’s enjoying it,” Bure tells EW. “I know that the people who have followed me for a long time, I think they know my grit and determination. I think, though, based on reading a lot of comments, the people who really just haven’t followed my career, I hope that they’re really pleasantly surprised by me and my attitude and just willingness to do something so out of the box.”
Special Forces continues Tuesdays on Fox.
