The Voice Season 30 Makes Major Format Change, Eliminating Two Familiar Rounds Before Its Biggest Cut Ever

The Voice is preparing for one of the most dramatic changes in its history as Season 30 introduces a completely new elimination format that will send more than half of its remaining contestants home.
Following the conclusion of the Battle Rounds on October 26, NBC’s singing competition is officially eliminating its traditional Knockout and Playoff rounds.
Instead, Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, Queen Latifah and Riley Green will face a high-pressure new stage called Cut Week, where 28 contestants will compete for just 13 places in the Live Shows.
The changes come as the milestone season continues experimenting with new rules, including the introduction of the First In button during the Blind Auditions.
The Voice Replaces Knockouts and Playoffs With Cut Week

According to NBC, Cut Week will air on Monday, November 2, immediately before the Live Shows begin on November 9.
Each of the four coaches currently has seven contestants remaining on their team.
During the new round, every coach must select two artists to advance directly to the Live Shows.
The five remaining singers on each team will then compete for one final spot, leaving each coach with three contestants.
That process will establish a Top 12, but the competition has another surprise planned.
Viewers will be given the opportunity to vote for one additional contestant from any team, allowing one previously eliminated artist to rejoin the competition.
The result will be a Top 13 heading into the Live Shows.
With 28 singers entering Cut Week and only 13 advancing, the round has been described as the biggest elimination in The Voice history.
Kelly Clarkson and Riley Green Face Difficult Decisions

The new format places enormous pressure on the coaching panel, particularly as each coach must reduce a seven-person team to just three singers.
For Clarkson and Levine, both experienced Voice coaches, the changes introduce an unfamiliar challenge despite their previous success on the program.
Meanwhile, Queen Latifah and Riley Green must navigate the demanding elimination process during their first season in the famous red chairs.
Season 30 has already introduced another significant rule change through the First In button, which replaced the traditional Block feature.
The new button allows a coach to secure an artist immediately by being the first to turn their chair.
Combined with Cut Week, the changes have made the competition noticeably different from previous seasons.
The Voice Also Announces a New Weekly Schedule
The format overhaul isn’t the only adjustment affecting viewers.
NBC has also moved The Voice to a Monday-only schedule, ending the Tuesday broadcasts that aired earlier in the season.
The change makes room for NBA on NBC coverage on Tuesday evenings.
Beginning November 2, The Voice will also move to a later start time of 9 p.m. ET, rather than its previous 8 p.m. slot.
The new schedule will continue through the Season 30 finale on December 14.
With two familiar competition rounds removed, a massive elimination approaching and an additional contestant set to be saved by viewers, The Voice is entering its most unpredictable stage yet.
Cut Week premieres Monday, November 2, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
