Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine may have plenty of experience battling for singers on The Voice, but Season 30 is bringing two newcomers who already appear ready to make their lives considerably more difficult.

The first trailer for the new season introduces Queen Latifah and Riley Green to the famous red chairs alongside returning Coaches Clarkson and Levine — and neither newcomer appears interested in quietly learning the ropes.

Latifah has the audience chanting her name, Green’s country charm immediately catches one contestant’s attention, and Clarkson is so unwilling to help her new rivals that her only piece of advice is brutally simple:

“No, I hope you lose!”

And that is before motorcycles, hay barrels, a dog and one of Clarkson’s hair extensions enter the picture.

Queen Latifah Immediately Has Adam And Kelly Worried

Queen Latifah does not appear to need much time adjusting to life as a Coach.

The trailer shows an Artist delivering a powerful performance of “I Put a Spell on You,” prompting Latifah to make an enthusiastic pitch.

“Your voice is beautiful, raspy. I love your command of that song,” she tells the singer.

Then comes her biggest selling point.

“I’m the Queen, and together we can command The Voice.”

The studio audience quickly gets behind her, breaking into chants of “Queen! Queen! Queen!”

That reaction does not go unnoticed by two Coaches who understand exactly how valuable momentum can be during the Blind Auditions.

“Guys, this is going to be a problem,” Levine says.

Clarkson responds with a joke of her own.

“Well, Adam, it was a nice ride.”

Latifah seems equally confident about competing against the veterans, at one point warning her fellow Coaches that they are “going down.”

Riley Green’s Country Charm Is Already Working

Riley Green is also making his debut as a Coach, and he appears to have a very different weapon at his disposal.

One Artist wastes little time acknowledging the country star after meeting the panel.

“Hi Riley,” she says flirtatiously.

Clarkson appears determined not to let Green’s appeal give him an easy advantage, but Latifah is more willing to acknowledge what everyone else is seeing.

“Can we put that on my chair?” he jokes.

It is certainly not the conventional Coach pitch.

But with four celebrities competing to convince the same Artists that their team offers the best chance of success, unconventional tactics are hardly unusual on The Voice.

Latifah appreciates the commitment.

“Sometimes you gotta pop out and show them!” she responds.

Whether a hair extension is actually enough to secure a contestant remains to be seen.

Motorcycles, Hay Barrels And A Four-Legged Guest

The competition between the Coaches is only part of the chaos teased for Season 30.

Latifah is shown arriving on a motorcycle, giving her entrance considerably more drama than simply walking onto the set.

Levine, meanwhile, appears with his head sticking out of a barrel of hay.

Green brings another surprise in the form of his dog, Carl, who makes an appearance during the trailer.

Taken together, the moments suggest the new season will continue leaning heavily into the playful rivalry between Coaches alongside the singing competition itself.

And the four-person lineup provides plenty of opportunities for that dynamic.

Fans will not have to wait long to see whether the chaos teased in the trailer carries into the competition.

Season 30 begins on Monday, September 21 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, with episodes available to stream the following day on Peacock.

The premiere runs for two hours, from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m.

The show then returns on Tuesday, September 22, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., followed by another episode on Wednesday, September 23, also airing from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

That gives viewers three consecutive nights to see the new coaching lineup begin building their teams.

The New Coaches Aren’t Waiting To Start The Fight

Season 30 may ultimately be decided by the Artists, but its first trailer makes it clear that plenty of entertainment will be coming from the red chairs.

Clarkson is refusing to help her rivals and offering up hair extensions.

Green already has contestants noticing his charm.

Levine is popping out of hay while acknowledging that his competition could be getting tougher.

And Latifah has barely arrived before an audience is chanting “Queen” and she is telling everyone else they are going down.

Clarkson and Levine may know The Voice better than their two new rivals.

But if the trailer is any indication, experience is not going to intimidate Team Queen or Team Riley.

The battle for Season 30 has not officially begun, and the Coaches are already fighting for control.
