Bridgerton Season 6 Is Already Taking Shape — and All Signs Point to a Long-Awaited Romance Finally Taking Center Stage
Bridgerton fans may still have a long wait ahead for Season 5, but Netflix’s Regency phenomenon is already quietly preparing for what comes next.
With the fifth season expected in 2027, work appears to have begun on Season 6, raising an even bigger question: which Bridgerton sibling will finally get their turn at the center of the love story?
Nothing has officially been announced regarding Season 6’s leading couple. However, clues from the series, Julia Quinn’s novels and comments from showrunner Jess Brownell are increasingly pointing toward Eloise Bridgerton.
And if that happens, a familiar character could become much more important.
Could Season 6 Finally Belong to Eloise?

Played by Claudia Jessie, Eloise has spent much of Bridgerton questioning the expectations placed upon women in her society.
Her eventual romance has therefore remained one of the show’s biggest unresolved stories.
Season 5 is expected to focus on Francesca Bridgerton, played by Hannah Dodd, and Michaela, played by Masali Baduza. That means the Netflix adaptation is once again departing from the original order of Julia Quinn’s novels.
That change potentially clears the way for Eloise to take over in Season 6.
If the series follows her story from the books, the man opposite her would be Sir Phillip Crane, played by Chris Fulton.
Brownell has previously offered a major clue about Eloise’s eventual future, saying that the character is “ending up with the love interest from her book.”
No official announcement confirms that Eloise and Phillip will lead Season 6, but that comment makes their eventual romance particularly difficult to ignore.
Sir Phillip Crane Could Return to the Spotlight
Phillip isn’t a completely new character for television viewers.
Chris Fulton appeared as Sir Phillip Crane earlier in the series, but the character has remained largely on the sidelines compared with the Bridgerton family’s central romances.
Julia Quinn’s To Sir Phillip, With Love puts him at the heart of Eloise’s story.
In the novel, Eloise and Phillip begin corresponding through letters. After Eloise has seemingly accepted the possibility of remaining unmarried, their relationship eventually leads her toward a potential marriage arrangement.
Phillip is also responsible for children — a detail that would have a different context within the Netflix adaptation because of changes already made to the story.
Their relationship doesn’t begin as a conventional sweeping romance. Instead, Eloise discovers a complicated, imperfect man, while Phillip becomes increasingly captivated by the woman who has unexpectedly entered his life.
That unconventional dynamic could make Eloise’s season particularly distinctive.
The Show Is Once Again Changing the Book Order
The original novels don’t necessarily dictate the order in which Netflix tells each sibling’s story.
Season 5 itself demonstrates that.
The upcoming chapter is expected to move to Francesca’s story, based on Quinn’s sixth Bridgerton novel, When He Was Wicked.
That makes it increasingly difficult to predict future seasons simply by looking at the publication order.
But with Francesca taking Season 5, Eloise becomes one of the most obvious candidates for the following chapter.
For now, however, that remains an expectation rather than an official confirmation from Netflix or Shondaland.
Work on Season 6 May Already Be Underway
There is another encouraging sign for fans looking far beyond Season 5.
According to the supplied report, script work for the sixth season appears to have started while Season 5 production moves toward completion.
That doesn’t mean viewers should expect new episodes anytime soon.
No premiere date has been announced for Season 6, and based on the current production timeline, the report suggests 2028 at the earliest, potentially even later.
Casting details also remain unconfirmed.
If Eloise’s story does become the focus, Claudia Jessie would naturally be expected to move into the leading role, with Chris Fulton’s Phillip becoming central to the romance.
Until Netflix makes that announcement, however, fans will have to keep watching for clues.
Season 5 may belong to Francesca and Michaela, but the pieces already being placed around Bridgerton‘s future suggest Eloise’s long-awaited love story could finally be next — with Sir Phillip Crane waiting on the other side.
