The late Angus Cloud would have turned 28 on July 10.

On July 31, 2023, Cloud — who is best known for playing Fezco O’Neill on the acclaimed HBO show Euphoria — died at 25 at his family’s home in Oakland, California. An autopsy revealed two months later that he passed away due to a combination of drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, and more, in his system. The late actor suffered from an “acute intoxication” from the cocktail of drugs, according to the Alameda County Coroner.

After the Hollywood star died young, he left an unforgettable impression in his final on-screen role in the vampire movie, Abigail. The final season of the Sam Levinson-run show did not fare well with the Television Academy and was majorly snubbed by the Emmys, earning only two nominations.

Released April 19, 2024, Abigail follows a team of criminals in the middle of a heist. Dean (Cloud), a getaway driver, meets the rest of the crew, which includes Joey (Melissa Barrera), Frank (Dan Stevens), Sammy (Kathryn Newton), and Peter (Kevin Durand). Dean and the others think the simple job is to kidnap a wealthy man’s daughter, Abigail (Alisha Weir).

While waiting for the ransom to be paid, Dean is the first to discover they are locked inside with something monstrous. Abigail turns out to be a blood-starved vampire.

At the end of the movie, the filmmakers and ensemble paid tribute to the late actor. They dedicated the movie to his memory. During the end credits, in a special “In Loving Memory” card, the star’s autograph is outlined inside a cloud.

Tyler Gillett, who co-directed the horror flick with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, spoke about the late actor and his final performance.

“I don’t think we’ve ever worked with somebody that forces the other actors in the scene to pay attention. There’s not a false moment in anything that he does,” Gillet told Variety back in April 2024.

“He kind of gave everyone permission to be a little weird and take some swings that maybe they wouldn’t have otherwise, just because of how natural and charismatic he is in a scene,” he closed.

Abigail has a rare matching 83 percent score with audiences and critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

One reviewer noted his performance and said, “I felt like I was watching a broken person. It is sad that he had a terrible addiction.”

Another reviewer added, “I just finished Abigail and thought Angus was funny in it.”

A third wrote, “This man must have had a lot going on to be playing roles in that state. So sad he couldn’t get the help he needed in time. Life is hard. RIP Angus Cloud.”
