It’s not just her hair that’s big! Dolly Parton comes from a massive family, too. The country music icon was the fourth of twelve children born to parents Robert Lee Parton and Avie Lee Parton, giving her a total of 11 siblings, made up of five sisters — Willadeene, Stella, Cassie, Freida, and Rachel — and six brothers — David, Coy, Randy, Bobby, Larry, and Floyd. Just like the larger-than-life country superstar, many of Dolly’s siblings have made careers in the entertainment industry as singers or writers, while other members of the family have led private lives away from the spotlight.

Dolly has also lost a handful of her siblings. In July 2026, her brother Coy “Denver” Parton died at the age of 82, becoming the fifth sibling to pass away. Randy Parton, a renowned singer-songwriter, died in 2021 at the age of 67, which Dolly confirmed in a statement on Facebook, revealing that Randy had lost a battle with cancer. Floyd, who worked alongside Dolly as a songwriter, died in 2018 at the age of 61, while David Parton, Dolly’s oldest brother, died in 2024 at the age of 82. As for her brother Larry, he died just four days after his birth in 1955, when Dolly was only 9 years old.

Over the years, Dolly has maintained close relationships with many of her siblings. She has even frequently shared the limelight with some of her brothers and sisters throughout her career — and there are photos to prove it. With more than three years between them in age, Dolly and Stella aren’t twins, but they look like they could be. During a red carpet outing in 2015, their sisterly resemblance was on full display. Flashing their radiant smiles to the camera, Dolly and Stella may have had fans seeing double with their matching heads of platinum blond hair.

Dolly Parton frequently shares social media pics with her sister Rachel

While it’s rare to find photos of Dolly Parton and some of her more private siblings, the same can’t be said for her sister Rachel Parton. Since co-authoring a cookbook together in 2024, titled “Good Lookin’ Cookin,'” Dolly and Rachel have frequently appeared together in social media pics, like in a photo posted the day before the cookbook hit bookshelves. Earlier that year, Dolly posted a throwback pic with the caption, “My sister Rachel and I just a few years ago … And now we’re writing a cookbook together!”

Floyd Parton was Dolly Parton’s songwriting partner for decades

Dolly Parton spent years working alongside her younger brother Floyd Parton, a prolific songwriter who helped write some of her chart-topping hits. While most of their collaborating took place behind the scenes in the recording studio, Dolly and Floyd were photographed together in the rare snap above, taken in 1981. The sweet brother-sister portrait shows Dolly with a curly bleach-blond wig and a full glam, joining the list of gorgeous throwback pics of Dolly Parton that prove she’s always been an icon.

Although photos of Dolly Parton with sister Willadeene Parton are hard to find, the duo once made a rare public appearance together on a talk show in 1996. The oldest of all the Parton siblings, Willadeene joined Dolly on “Prime Time Country” to promote her book “Smoky Mountain Memories,” giving an interview that was full of jokes and laughter from the two sisters. Willadeene doesn’t share the same bright blond hair that many of her sisters have, and instead stands out with her curly, dark brunette locks.

Dolly Parton has been a major inspiration for sister Freida Parton

Dolly Parton’s younger sister Freida Parton has long been vocal about the impact the “Jolene” songstress has had on her life, as well as her career. Also a singer and songwriter, Freida has released three studio albums, and she credits Dolly with being one of her biggest inspirations. In January 2026, Freida posted the flashback photo above for Dolly’s 80th birthday, writing to her sister, “You mean so much to me! You have influenced my music. I would not take anything in the world for all the memories and good times we share.”

The only one not pictured is her late brother Larry, who died as an infant. In the pic, it’s clear that Dolly’s hair had more of a sandy blond shade at the time, which is quite different from the icy blond color she’s now known for. Dolly Parton’s natural hair is gorgeous but her reason for wearing wigs is so relatable.

In April 2017, Dolly Parton took to Facebook in honor of National Siblings Day to share a portrait of her entire family, including her five brothers, five sisters, and her parents, Avie Lee and Robert Lee Parton. It’s unclear when the photo was taken, but it is one of the rare snapshots that feature the siblings all together as adults. While looking back on her childhood, Dolly told The Guardian in February 2016, “With that many brothers and sisters there was plenty of teasing and fighting, but we were all in it together.”
