Southampton’s historic Bargate became the heart of holiday cheer on Friday night as Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas graced the stage at the city’s free Christmas lights switch-on event. The talented singer delivered a breathtaking live performance, enchanting thousands of attendees who swayed along to her music under the twinkling festive lights.

Sydnie, who captured the nation’s heart after winning Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year, treated the crowd to a mix of holiday classics and her most memorable songs from the show. Highlights included her renditions of “My Way,” “Tomorrow,” and “Over the Rainbow.” Her powerful and heartfelt performance was undoubtedly the evening’s standout moment, drawing a massive audience to Southampton’s city center.
Before her performance, Sydnie shared her excitement about returning to Southampton, a city she first visited as a cruise ship singer. “I was lucky to get a day to explore when we stopped here. It was kind of random, but I loved it. Great shopping and a great vibe,” she recalled fondly.
The Gravesend, Kent native rose to stardom after her golden buzzer moment on Britain’s Got Talent, where her moving rendition of “Tomorrow” from Annie wowed judge Amanda Holden and the audience alike. Reflecting on her journey, Sydnie said, “It was such an amazing experience. I loved it, even though it was really nerve-wracking. I don’t know if people think anxiety can be amazing, but it definitely was for me.”
Sydnie’s whirlwind day didn’t end in Southampton. Sharing her packed schedule on social media, she wrote:

STILL can’t believe how much we managed to pack in one day 🤯 I thought I’d take you along for the ride to give you a teeny tiny look at our adventures 🚘 From a quick soundcheck at the London Palladium, to hot footing it to Dartford for a Christmas light switch on, before heading to Governors House and back to the West End for #MagicOfChristmas🎄”
