Former BBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin has confirmed that she is “not dead” after sharing a message about “last breath”. The 57-year-old BBC star has released a new book with the worrying titles after suffering from recent health issues.

Taking to Instagram, she shared a sneak peek of her writing as she captioned the post to reassure fans. “I can confirm I am NOT dead, LAST BREATH is the title of my new thriller not a reference to my health,” she penned. “It’ll be out in March and you can pre-order now, you could even be first to buy it.”

She went on: “The cover is to come, but keep swiping to get an idea what it’s about and why I need to confirm I may be suffering from frost bite but otherwise I am OK and very much looking forward to going to @harrogatefestivals to the brilliant crime festival there as proof of life.”

Louise has been keeping her loyal fans updated on her health journey after being rushed to the hospital earlier this year. She had contracted frostbite during an Arctic adventure challenge.

The broadcaster had been attempting to cycle 300 miles (483km) in three days in Canada’s Northwest Territories to raise money for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, alongside Guinness World Record holding endurance athlete Mimi Anderson.

However they were forced to a halt after enduring dangerously cold winds despite preparing for the sub-zero temperatures.

“We are out of the race but we are safe, warm and being well looked after,” Minchin told her Instagram followers from a hospital bed.

She added: “We did around 140k in temperatures as low as -40C. When we got to this point both of us knew we were very dangerously cold.

“Turns out we were right to stop. We both have frostbite and are being looked after incredibly well looked after. At the moment we remain in good spirits.”

The Inuvik Weekend Warrior Fat Bike Challenge they were taking part in requires participants to cycle across Arctic wilderness and frozen rivers.

The challenge is characterised as taking cyclists “through some of the coldest, toughest and most beautiful terrain.”
