Harry Kane Refuses to Set a Limit After ‘Crazy’ 73-Goal Season as Bayern Star Chases Ballon d’Or and Champions League Glory

Harry Kane is refusing to put a ceiling on what comes next — and after a staggering 73-goal season, the England captain has every reason to believe his best may not be behind him.

At 33, the Bayern Munich striker is enjoying the most prolific period of his career and enters the new season with ambitions stretching far beyond another personal scoring record.

The Champions League remains firmly in his sights. So does international glory with England. And after producing the best season of his career, Kane has emerged as a serious contender for the Ballon d’Or.

Rather than slowing down, he wants more.

“I never like to put limits on what I can achieve before every season,” Kane told TNT Sports ahead of Bayern’s Champions League campaign. “I maybe set myself a crazy aim and see what I can do.”

That mentality has helped take Kane to another level.

His 73 goals last season were almost 20 more than his previous career-best tally, a remarkable leap for a striker who has already spent years among the elite.

And Kane insists he wants to make this extraordinary period last for as long as possible.

“I want to be at the best level for as long as possible.”

Kane Has His Eyes on the Ballon d’Or

The Ballon d’Or now represents another potential milestone.

England have not produced a winner since Michael Owen in 2001, and Owen has already described Kane’s campaign as “phenomenal”.

Kane knows, however, that the final decision is beyond his control.

“I’m extremely proud of the season I put out for sure,” he said. “The season I had was my best season by far, and we have to wait and see this.”

Rather than dwelling on the award, Kane is already focused on improving again.

That may be the most revealing part of his mindset.

Even after a record-breaking campaign, he is looking at what he can do better.

The Champions League Is the Big Prize

For all the individual recognition, Kane has made it clear that trophies remain his priority.

Bayern Munich came agonisingly close to reaching another Champions League final last season before losing to eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.

Now Kane believes Bayern are close enough to challenge again.

“We’re coming into this season now saying that it needs to be our year,” he said. “We need to find a way to get it done.”

Bayern have not lifted the Champions League trophy since 2020, and Kane knows that winning Europe’s biggest club competition requires more than simply being the strongest side on paper.

Injuries, form and even luck can determine who survives the knockout stages.

But after experiencing the disappointment of the last two campaigns, Kane believes Bayern have learned enough to make another serious push.

“The goal for me. That’s the goal for the whole team,” he said.

Kane Is Still Evolving as a Striker

Perhaps just as impressive as his goalscoring numbers is the way Kane has adapted his game.

The England captain rejects the idea that dropping deeper means taking himself away from goal.

Instead, he believes moving into deeper positions can actually make him more dangerous.

When defenders expect a traditional No.9 to remain high, Kane can disappear into midfield before arriving late inside the penalty area.

He explained that he sometimes receives the ball in positions almost resembling a No.6, before making a late run into the box.

That movement can leave defenders uncertain over who should track him.

And when Kane arrives late, he believes he can create better goalscoring opportunities than if he simply waits between two centre-backs.

It is another sign that his game has evolved beyond simply being a penalty-box finisher.

No Ceiling, No Retreat

Kane’s career has already entered remarkable territory.

Yet his message is clear: he does not intend to decide in advance how high he can go.

Messi, Ronaldo and Luka Modric have shown him that elite players can continue performing at the highest level well into their late 30s and beyond.

That has given Kane another target — longevity.

For now, he wants to squeeze everything possible out of the extraordinary form he is enjoying.

More goals.

More trophies.

A Champions League title.

England glory.

And perhaps the Ballon d’Or.

After 73 goals in one astonishing season, Kane is not asking where his limits are.
