“I CAN’T BELIEVE IT… THIS CAN’T BE REAL!” — £97,000 DECIDED BY ONE BRUTAL WORD TRAP The final seconds of The 1% Club turned into pure chaos as just two finalists stood one answer away from taking home a life-changing £97,000 jackpot. After battling through every round, it all came down to one final puzzle — and this one didn’t test knowledge… it tested whether you could spot the trap before time ran out. Host Lee Mack dropped a confusing wall of letters onto the screen, and instantly the pressure hit. The countdown started. Eyes locked. Minds raced. One finalist froze completely, admitting her answer made no sense. The other trusted her instinct and locked in a phrase that seemed almost too simple to survive a 1% question. But the real trick wasn’t hidden in the letters — it was buried inside the wording itself, in a detail so small it changed everything. Miss it, and the entire puzzle falls apart. Spot it, and the prize is yours. And when the answer was finally revealed, one player was left speechless… while the other walked away with every penny

Viewers of the ITV game show were treated to a competitive episode on Thursday night, which saw player numbers dwindle to just three as the 1% question loomed.

But as finalists Stevie, Sam and Anna were the last remaining contestants battling it out to the end, an unexpected twist changed the trajectory of the game.

Presenter Lee Mack asked players whether they would like to play for the 1% question or leave with their individual shares from the prize pot.

Both Stevie and Anna chose to battle it out for the huge sum, while Sam opted to take home what he earned on the programme.

Show host Lee confirmed: “Ok, Sam, you’ve decided to take your share of the money, which is £3,333. Well done Sam!”

His move left just Stevie and Anna as the remaining players, as they took on the looming 1% question.

Reading out the perplexing sentence to players and viewers, Lee asked: “What common two-word phrase do you get if you remove three words from the following sequence?”

Below the question was a screen packed with a whole lot of letters.

The chosen letters for the question were T W H W E R L E L E D W O O N R E D S.

After taking a moment to think of an answer, Lee quickly cut off their timers and pressed them on answers.

Asked what answer she wrote, Stevie said: “Something unreadable. I haven’t got it.”

The player had impressed after managing to get to the final of the show two nights in a row – making it to the end in Wednesday and Thursday night’s episodes.

But her phenomenal journey ended again in disappointment after failing to answer the confusing question.

Meanwhile, Anna locked in her answer of ” well done”, awaiting her fate from show presenter Lee.

Viewers also found the trivia tricky, as the answer is not immediately obvious.

But the answer lay in the wording of the question – you just had to remove the letters of ‘three words’ from the selection.

The remaining letters left spelled common phrase “well done”.

Revealing the result, Lee told viewers: “Congratulations Anna, you are the winner and get everything in the prize pot – £97,000.”

Astonished by the result, Anna blurted: “I can’t believe it!”

Despite her bumper winnings, Anna will be returning to the show on Friday to do it all over again.

Her huge win came just one day after a player scooped a record-breaking cash prize.

Towards the end of the episode, contestant Michelle was battling it out against fellow hopeful Nathaniel for a huge cash prize of £194,000.

Revealing the 1% question that would seal both their fates, Lee asked: “Heidi Abbi Bedhead just got a new bank card. If the picture below displays the first 12 digits of the card number, what are the final four?”

Michelle answered 8514, while Nathaniel locked in his choice of 9214.

The twelve digits on the card spell out Heidi Abbi Bed, with the remaining letters – head – meaning the missing digits would be 8514.

Michelle’s answer was indeed correct, securing her a whopping £194,000 cash prize – the biggest in the show’s history.
