Could one of football’s most iconic attacking trios reunite after almost a decade? Neymar’s uncertain future at Santos has once again put Inter Miami on the radar, opening the possibility of the Brazilian linking up with Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez for one final chapter of the famous ‘MSN’ era.
Neymar, now 34, is approaching a decisive point in his career. His contract with Santos expires on December 31, 2026, and there is still no clarity over whether he will extend his stay with his boyhood club. Inter Miami, meanwhile, has emerged as an increasingly attractive destination should the Brazilian decide to continue his career elsewhere.
Neymar’s Santos future clouded by fresh controversy
Neymar’s relationship with Santos came under scrutiny again after the club’s 2-2 draw against Chapecoense.
According to reports, the forward arrived at the training centre but left shortly afterwards without taking part in the recovery session scheduled for the starters.
The episode caused unease within the club, although Neymar returned for the next training session and Santos opted against sanctioning him.
With his contract running until the end of the year, Neymar has left his options open. A renewal remains possible, but so are a move to another club or even retirement if he does not continue at Santos.
That uncertainty has brought Inter Miami back into the picture.
Messi, Suárez and Neymar could reunite in Miami
The appeal is obvious. Messi and Suárez are already teammates in Florida, meaning only Neymar would be needed to recreate the attacking trio that dominated European football at Barcelona between 2014 and 2017.
The three formed one of the most devastating forward lines in modern football. Together, they won nine trophies, including the Champions League, two La Liga titles, three Copa del Rey trophies, a Spanish Super Cup, a UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
Their first season together was particularly memorable, with Messi, Neymar and Suárez combining for 122 goals across competitions as Barcelona completed a historic treble in 2015.
The partnership ended when Neymar left Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 in a record €222 million transfer. Messi and Neymar later reunited at PSG, but that partnership lasted only until Messi’s departure for Inter Miami in 2023.
Suárez joined Messi in Miami a year later, creating another reunion of the Barcelona generation. Now Neymar could potentially complete it.
A dream reunion — but a major gamble
There is, however, no confirmed agreement between Neymar and Inter Miami. The Brazilian’s recent career has been affected by injuries and spells without regular football, making his physical condition a major consideration.
For Inter Miami, signing Neymar would carry enormous sporting and commercial appeal. For Neymar, it could offer the chance to play alongside Messi and Suárez again while adding one final chapter to the MSN story.
The Brazilian has the final say on what comes next. Santos is waiting on his decision, while Inter Miami already has two-thirds of the famous trio.
